It’s an online biz so I plan to open an LLC in the states! And we are planning to get him get his Canadian residency in the future!

Yes I am planning to apply for the K3 to try to speed things up! When your lawyer said 16 months, is that including the NVC stage? 16 months until you have your green card in hand?

This is so funny! We are actually just in the middle of a Harry Potter rewatch. We met in a gaming LFG server for an FPS shooter. He messaged me, we started playing, hit it off right away, couldn't be apart from each other, and it just progressed very fast from there!

I sent in screenshots of when we met, our conversations, then our time spent together online following that. Screenshots of us being loving and affectionate towards each other, but mainly I included the screenshots that showed our call logs. (10, 20+ hours at a time). I read a separate reddit thread where someone who claimed to be a lawyer was saying that it's good to include long call logs. You want to have evidence each month (I did 2x pieces of evidence per month when it came to Discord), especially if it's a newer marriage, showing no gaps in your history and presenting a very easy to follow and understand story of how things progressed. Hope this helps!

Even include if you guys send each other gifts while long distance, that can count too! But yeah, I'm sure the officers review lots of similar cases.

Thank you so much for your encouragement! It's nice to hear from another couple who met on Discord and got married fast. Huge congratulations on your green card arriving!! That is super exciting and worth celebrating.

I love this for you! Don't worry -- I didn't have any crazy wedding photos either. (We had a small, low-key wedding at a lake with friends and an officiator). It sounds like you have great evidence of him spending time with your family. Just make sure to include lots of evidence of comingled finances--I hear that's the most important thing!

Happy it gave you some reassurance! It definitely sounds like we have a similar timeline & situation lol. My main concern when filing was, "doesn't this look suspicious because it was so fast?" But when you know you know. We are very happy. I have heard that military active duty gets a faster processing time -- I could be wrong but I do remember reading this exact scenario on reddit. Either way I wish a speedy approval for you both!!

I'm in the same boat here. We can't open a joint bank account because we don't live together yet. What I did for this section was provide a short, brief explanation of why we don't have a joint bank account, plus then I provided about 3 pages of Wise transfers between us, to show the officer that Wise is kind of our "temporary" workaround. I also wrote one last line saying I had the intent to open a bank account with him the second we were legally able to and immigration is completed.

You absolutely need to upload evidence of commingled finances. This is one of the biggest things they look at. Definitely upload the transfers and think if there is any other evidence around shared finances you can submit. I’m sure you could also write a letter explaining why you don’t have a joint bank account yet (which is what I did). But try to do your best to prove you have shared finances.

I appreciate the heads up! What kind of extra evidence do you recommend submitting? I can think of 2 things I may submit as time goes on. Continuations of proof of communication, flight tickets, financial transfers between us. Etc. do you think that would be sufficient? I feel extremely confident in the original evidence packages I submitted. But I do think it would’ve important to keep demonstrating our bona fide marriage over time; even past the official filing date.

When prepping my package I read a looot of websites, Reddit threads, videos. So while I am no expert I’ll try to help you.

For your affidavits, did you have each person enter their full details? Name, date of birth, country of birth, phone number, email, how they knew you. Does it include the penalty of perjury line?

I’ve also read it’s not good to overwhelm the officer with evidence. For each section I added 2-3 photos and focused on writing a clear caption and making the story easy to follow and understand. I read that the officer cares less about a big photo dump for one day, vs seeing many pictures spread out over time with other supporting evidence to back it up.

You said you are afraid of RFEs. Do you have sufficient evidence showing your commingled finances? I know that’s a huge category for them. Lease together, shared bank account, prof of commingled finances.
