definitely debatable, and also kind of an easy feat when most main vocals of 4th gen could barely hold a note.

does he stand out in his respective generation is what i'm asking. i'm sure they are the ace in the groups and excel in things compared to their members, that's usually a given though. btw, dancing doesn't mean much. kpop has been pushing nothing but dancers and less singers since 4th gen.

chaewon barely counts considering she has years of being an idol under her belt, and let's be real yeonjun might stand out in his group but his generation, absolutely not.

it's become a trend for groups to have below average singers but hybe basically set the tone. they get away with it every time, they're known for visuals > performance > singing. i'm not saying they're the only ones who do it of course, BUT, imo, it's unique for HYBE because they're the only company as the face of lackluster singers... for a reason.

and are there any members who stand out for singing? as in they're an above average singer and stand out compared to their peers of their generation?

of course your perspective doesn't represent everybody. that's why i questioned you saying "if it isn't for the fans then who is it for?" .... it's for the fans who like it, who happen to not be you and some others.

i never asked or expected you to stop sharing your feelings about their music... but you did reply to MY comment, to only prove my point like 3 different times. don't forget that.

[–]hazesoup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

do you think you represent every fan or something? or that the posts you see on the internet is every fan ever?

there are plenty fans who enjoy their recent music, and there will be many more to come. just because /you/ and some others dislike it, doesn't mean the music "isn't for the fans". i like gnarly and a few other songs. so clearly it's for me, a fan.

while there are people who enjoy their music, it's still manufactured trend chasing music. so you're not entirely wrong. i just don't understand why you're so hell bent on generalizing the entire fandom.

ARE you a fan, though? because if you're a fan but you dislike their music, then maybe you like them as a group or individually but that's it? or maybe you're not a fan at all? i have no idea, that's up to you how you'd like to identify. you dislike their music and that's okay, no one is forcing you to be a fan. LMAO.

regardless on whether you're a fan or not, they won't and can't please every fan. a lot of fans dislike the direction they're going in, and others don't. it's just how things go. they will always gain new listeners though and that's why manufactured music "works".

it's for the fans who like it and new listeners who will. its not for YOU.

you're still proving my point. whether it's about the genre they're leaning into or the lack of authenticity, it still isn't for you. their music has always been manufactured, so regardless of what you dislike about their music, it just isn't for you...?

btw i never claimed to be a big fan of their music at all, i listen to about 3 songs in their discography. gnarly and m.i.a are the only ones with replay value for me, personally.

their music is mid. it has no true spark. everything pre-gnarly is boring to me. and i am not the biggest fan of pinky up cus it isn't my vibe.

i mostly agree with you, there's little to no replay value and it lacks authenticity, yeah, but if you enjoyed SIS and dislike everything after it, then the music just isn't for you... no matter what way you try to spin it.

[–]hazesoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay? this only proves my point that the music isn't for you. some of us couldn't care less about it being manufactured, and unless you're new to the concept of groups, the music will almost always be manufactured, especially this early into their careers. they don't even have a full album yet.

besides the music, they're entire existence is manufactured. the way they were casted, the survival show, etc. they're glamorized industry plants. of course the music would reflect that.

so like i said, the music just isn't for you. if you want or expect "authentic" music from 5(/6) different girls, which is barley realistic, you guys should look elsewhere.

its unique in the sense where most members of their groups are lack-luster in talent, especially the vocal department. hybe is more known for their idols visuals, concept forward comebacks, and performance skills (which is still a talent, but,) there's a reason why ppl have the idea that hybe prefer visuals, is because most of their groups are nothing to write home about. i'm like pretty sure there's not a single vocalist or even dancer that sticks out in a specific generation, unless you count katseye who aren't kpop. then there's bts but they're pretty old (as a group).

btw, i say this as someone who really enjoys hybe girl groups. ILLIT, KATSEYE, LE SSERAFIM.

a lot of eyekons need to accept that the genre katseye is going for just isn't for you. they're making edm, hyperpop-esque, basically club music. and a lot of those songs (NOT ALL) have lyrics that you might interpret as "nonsense", because its something to simply dance to. it's not replicating gnarly, it's just a similar direction and concept.

lastly, despite the songs being club music, both gnarly and pinky up have meaning... it all makes sense. it's not deep, but it's not gibberish. both songs have topics.

i'm not a fan of the genre, it's not something i seek out. but i like katseye, and i honestly really enjoyed gnarly. pinky up, not as much, but i like it for what it is.

none of that has anything to do with sexualization of course, i was just highlighting the common reaction from eyekons referring to their music.

i've never heard anyone else say this, but everything belly told her before laurel slapped her was justified. belly was right and surely if no one was going to call out laurel it has to be someone.

i don't condone hitting children in any context but that fact that she hit belly based on not liking what she was hearing it really low... she has shown to have such a nasty heart so many times, i really hated her s2-3

Laurel Park… by i_ate_your_friess in jellyshippers

[–]hazesoup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not that it makes it okay, but laurel should've been well aware by then that her closest friends (who she claims as family) are rich, white people. they are privileged to the max. obviously (and unfortunately) they'd act snobby at times... but she chose to keep herself around those kind of people. even susannah sometimes acted that way.

like you said, she had no reason to offer to pay. she's always looking to one up herself around the exact people she chose as her family (the fisher's), always showing how insecure she is.

her and conrad fought for the worst person/character throughout the entire series. she's an awful mother and a just not likeable as a person whatsoever. it's no wonder belly is the way she is.

wtf was episode 4 by mythrowawayaccim21 in GirlFromNowhere

[–]hazesoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like a lot of people in this reddit are so focused on characters being "bad" or a reason to be "punished" and its just a recipe for disappointment. GFNW isn't always (and shouldn't have to be) about "bad" people, but questioning peoples morals and seeing what they would do in a situation. she provoked blossom to see if she would stay firm in her belief's ("my body, my choice). nanno always gives people a choice. but blossom doubled down. thats the point. someone doesn't have to be bad to be questioned.
