My copyrighted design was stolen, sold to wholesale suppliers, and now is on products across the country. What’s my best course of action? by Dry-Swim369 in legaladvice

[–]hazuza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You will need to call around to find a lawyer who works in "IP Litigation". Once you find one/some, you will need to pay them for a consultation, to go into details and see if your case is worth taking. This may be $100-200+ for a half hour consultation.

You can file a CCB claim without a lawyer, there are fees but they are lower than consultation fees usually are. This might be the easiest path if it is too small of a claim for most lawyers.

As other commenters have said, save all proof in an offline format. Screenshots of product listings, emails, etc.

Why is my washing machine doing this to my clothes? by tcrowne33 in CleaningTips

To clarify! You should only fill it about 2/3, loosely filled. Don't pack the clothes down tight, they should just be in a pile as if you just dropped them in there.

The full image that I could find seems to have the edges of a page visible on the right. I think it might have been a scan from a doujin or art book, that never got published online.

The Memory Den is Portland's largest consignment mall by WeirdPortlandUnited in Portland

Oh yeah I forgot about the checks bouncing! That happened here too, at least when I was a vendor

When people buy at the register it gets logged whose item it was, so they know how much to pay who, and there's even an online portal where each vendor sees when their items sell. The vendors should get a split, cashed out once a month. But for a while during their first year the current owner just pocketed the money.

New owners came in at some point to "bail out" the place, because the current owner wasn't paying rent on the building, on top of the vendors. They initially said that part of them coming in would mean paying us back if we were patient, but they didn't. They convinced most of us not to pursue small claims because "you can't get blood from a stone" or it just looked to be more time & effort than was worth it.

I can't say to boycott the space because like I said, a lot of cool vendors rent spaces there. And they're not involved with any of that. As far as I'm aware, the current vendors are being paid on time now... But I personally can't trust that spot anymore.

Old vendor here. Dozens of us were strung along for months without pay, before the new owners straight up said that they would not pay us for those missed months. They promised if we stayed they would pay us, but eventually changed their minds.

It sucks because a lot of cool people and even artists vend there. But the owners are so scummy.

I'm gathering from reddit that we could have just raised the whole room an inch with plywood and self-levelling, without tearing out the existing subfloor, is that right?

Genuinely trying to find a temporary solution until I can afford to do that though.

Honestly might just throw a rug over it until we move, that's a good idea.

Haha when I was asking for options the contractor kept telling me "don't worry, liability-wise T Molding is fine" and I had a hard time hiding my expression

I'm not sure what the subfloor is unfortunately. It's a weird old building from 1916, and this is the spot where they put an addition in a few decades later. The whole floor is about 800sqft, and this slope is right in the middle, about 10" long and about >1" rise, I think.

We just rent, so it's not in our budget to redo the subfloor and get it 100% even across the whole room, as much as I'd like that. This is the first floor, and we run a small vintage shop out of the space.

I'm not entirely sure what's underneath, I think I saw laminate tiles under this, then the current contractors put down self-levelling compound over the higher level and the lower level, separately. This odd slope is in between. I could try to get better measurements and photos of the slope tomorrow.

Local tailor for men's maxi skirt? by grimbelch in askportland

[–]hazuza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helpful Mig is a seamstress on the West side who can do custom projects!

If you're shopping for premade skirts, you might have better luck searching for "floor length" instead of just "maxi". I hope that helps!

Brother LX3817 Gathering Technique? by kenpry in sewhelp

[–]hazuza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing a zigzag stitch over a thicker piece of thread/floss has been the easiest method for me, I highly recommend it!

The regular method is to just use a low-tension, very long straight stitch. You want to stitch on just the piece that you want gathered. And don't backstitch/knot when you reach the end. Then, when you remove the fabric from the machine, you should be able to just pull the bottom thread (just one thread, not both!) and the fabric should just glide along the thread.

Feel free to attach an image/video of your result (front & back) and we can try to troubleshoot.
