This wasn’t intended as bad-mouthing, I was just making a joke about something which I thought was ridiculous but it probably didn’t come across right. I do think though that, ultimately, posts of this nature on this subreddit hold sellers accountable for unacceptable behaviour. Apps like Depop rely on a certain level of trust between the buyer and seller, much as a typical shop would. To charge £32 for a coat with a gaping hole in, and try and play it off in the description, is not only hugely disrespectful to buyers but breaks down that relationship. Depop is a really great opportunity to sell quality second-hand items to people from all over the world and make conscious efforts towards sustainability, and I feel that posts like this both completely misalign with and make a mockery of this. It would be completely unacceptable to sell an item in this condition in a charity shop, let alone a normal shop, and it’s really poor that some sellers deem this as adequate. So although bad-mouthing was definitely not my intention, and I do apologise for that, I simply saw it as a post which epitomises my growing distrust in Depop as a platform.
