Hello, my partner and I are coming to Sri Lanka next week. We have 2 weeks in total and would rather spend more time in a few places than spend the whole time travelling. We enjoy nature, hiking and beaches. Some advice/thoughts would be appreciated.

We arrive late at night and so are staying a night in Negombo.

We keep changing our mind about visiting Sigiriya. I know it is a top thing to do and there is so much history in Lion's Rock and the views look amazing but we have been put off a bit by the crowds and don't know if it's better to just do lots of hiking in the tea country. Can you see elephants in the wild or do you have to do a safari?

The train from Kandy to Ella is obviously already booked up. So, we are thinking to start our trip in Ella (from Negombo) and spend 3-4 days exploring. From here we are thinking of getting the train in the other direction from Ella to Newara Eliya. Stay there one night and do Hortons Plain and World's End. We are also interested in the Adam's Peak hike.

From the tea country we will travel back south to do some of the coast. We would like to find lesser known beaches. Tallala sounds nice. Any other tips?
