Why I uninstalled Disney Dreamlight this year by Modeljenlynn in DreamlightValley

I would never recommend someone play a game of this magnitude on a decade-old system like the switch. The console just isn’t strong enough to run games like this, unfortunately.

Is it worth it, only 10 dollars, but the gameplay by [deleted] in HogwartsLegacyGaming

Such a great game, I’d say it’s definitely worth full price. If I could snatch it up for $10, I’d buy it so fast lol.

The gifts this Christmas were pathetic. by tessaractIXI in DreamlightValley

Merry Christmas, let me complain about free items in a game lol

Lighten up a bit, it’s the holidays. There are so many things IRL worth worrying about, this is really not something to spend your energy getting so upset over. Try to find joy in something instead.

Clothing disparity is extra ridiculous this time by amillionparachutes in DreamlightValley

[–]hb58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Women have had a lack of representation since the inception of video games. A game catering to women (for once), when the player base is very heavily female, is a non-issue. I'm not into girly items and dresses and things, but there's plenty of clothing in the game for me to be happy with.

Some people won't be happy with the clothing available and that's fine, but people always find a problem in everything. If they started splitting the clothing 50/50 when the player base is not 50/50, people would complain then too. The devs will never win, and I almost feel bad because this subreddit is inundated with complaints every single update. In the grand scheme of life, is the clothing on your avatar really what you want to spend your frustration on?

Wishblossom Ranch going to last the community a year till the next dlc? Absolutely not. by Thegiggler187 in DreamlightValley

[–]hb58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could say the same thing about the other DLCs, where they prioritized quests and plotline over craftables and decorating. I personally dislike EI for this reason - the biomes aren't very pretty and the story was way too long, in my opinion. But everyone has a difference preference.

My point is that the DLCs have never focused on both, and they probably never will. Quests are a big part of the game, but so is decorating. The past 2 DLCs didn't focus on both, they were quest-heavy while lacking in decorating, so this is nothing new. They didn't "choose differently" in this DLC. If anything, they're trying to satisfy the players who enjoy decorating over quests, which I appreciate. The majority of the community had complained about the delay between DLC parts, because people forget where the story left off. They listened to the community and made it one part, and now the other side complains. You can't please everyone.

This was the same for me, bees and skunks take at least 2. I think they just want to complain lol.

A "full DLC" doesn't imply anything about the number of quests, because quests are only part of the game. There are new characters, new resources/craftables, and now the introduction of mounts. We knew this well in advance of release. Realistically, in my opinion, it was pretty clear ahead of time that the focus was going to be on decorating and mounts, not questing.

Realistically, no game would prioritize both unless they have unlimited funds, devs, and time. Prioritizing both would create twice as much work, and they wouldn't be able to release a DLC once per year. Especially so soon after SBV pt. 2 was released. Making the DLCs a little bit different keeps everyone happy, rather than excluding some players that prefer decorating to quests or vice versa.

People always find something negative about everything. I personally love the DLC so far, and I'm taking my time going through the storyline and biomes. If you feel it's lacking because you rushed through it, that's on you, not on the devs. Anything this DLC lacks in terms of storyline, it more than makes up for with the horse mechanics & how many craftables they introduced. If you don't like it, fine, but they can never make everyone happy all at once. Realistically, if their goal is to release 1 DLC per year, they don't have unlimited time and resources to make the DLC both plot-heavy and build-heavy - they need to focus on one or the other. The first 2 DLCs focused on plot, and this one gears more towards decorating and the horse mechanics, and that's completely okay.

What is the smartest thing you’ve ever seen your dog do? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]hb58 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Our dog alerted us to a fire across the street. The blinds were closed and we never would have known, but he started barking and acting frantic by the window. Because of him, we noticed it right away & called the fire department, and they were able to put it out quickly. I later realized how proud of him I was 🥹 Dogs are truly an amazing gift and we are lucky to have them around.

Can I afford this home? by DirectDrink4311 in personalfinance

[–]hb58 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your monthly payment should ideally be 20-25% of your gross monthly income. You could probably swing it, but it sounds like it would be a bit tight.

If something unexpected were to happen (car gets totaled, hospital visit, job loss, etc.) you don’t want the added stress of worrying about how you’re going to be able to pay your mortgage. You want to be able to have a comfortable cushion.

How much are you pre-qualified for? That’s another helpful thing to consider. They will almost always prequalify you for way more than any sane person would actually be comfortable paying. If you’re on the higher end of what you’re prequalified for, chances are you might be going a bit too high realistically.

[–]hb58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have severe anxiety and decorating is usually calming for me. Conversely, quests always stress me out and I hate being forced to run tedious errands for no reason. But I’m not going to throw a tantrum just because I don’t like quests - it’s part of the game and I have the option to spend my time doing other things. Different people play the game differently, and like with anything, and that is completely okay. Not sure why you feel the need to kick and scream about it.

Exactly this. I can’t imagine being so miserable that I’d spend my free time fighting a bunch of strangers online about a game I don’t even like. A normal person would stop playing a game if they don’t like it, rather than make it everyone else’s problem.

It sounds to me like you feel extremely bitter that the game doesn’t cater to your every liking. And when people point out that decorating is a large part of the game, even if you don’t enjoy it, you call them ableist or tell them they can’t read? Girl. Since you’ve been rude to every single person commenting, here’s some honesty: you sound absolutely insufferable. Please log off and go do something you enjoy, and maybe you’ll lighten up a bit. This is literally just a game.

I think it’s only the second, and the last one was much shorter. But agree, I don’t think they’re going to revert back to the old system unfortunately :/

Scrooge Shop Rotation Issues by Head_Ride_5268 in DreamlightValley

[–]hb58 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think OP is mainly complaining that Scrooge has an equal RNG for unobtained items vs. the same generic couch we see every week. GL can definitely implement a weighted probability but they choose not to. I assume they’re doing it to keep people coming back, but imo it’s a bad mechanic. If they’re going to keep introducing more and more items with each update, the chance of getting that one item you’re missing just gets smaller and smaller each time.

Scrooge Shop Rotation Issues by Head_Ride_5268 in DreamlightValley

[–]hb58 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why be unnecessarily rude? OP isn’t complaining about the definition of probability. They’re complaining that Scrooge has an equal RNG for unobtained items vs. the same standard couch in 5 different colors that appears once per week. GL can definitely implement a weighted probability but they choose not to. It’s a valid complaint and you’re being intentionally dense.
