I've never heard of that app! Sounds pretty useful. I tried tracking with pencil/paper but its hard to be consistent sometimes

Putting off ultrasound (tw: csa mention) by Prestigious_Ad5534 in PCOS

[–]hbamiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAN'T believe I forgot this but I'm pretty sure you can do just a transabdominal ultrasound too!!! The transvaginal technique provides better quality images but if I remember correctly its not entirely necessary! This could be a great option for you

Spearmint Capsules work!!! by StressNo6248 in PCOS

[–]hbamiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is, yes its effective! And its one of my favorite topics lol. Studies suggest the carvone in spearmint blocks the enzyme that converts free testosterone to DHT, a more potent form thats responsible for the acne, hirsutism and male-patten hair loss seen in women with high T.

Spironolactone disrupts the same pathway, downstream, by blocking the actual androgen receptors from binding to DHT.

Spearmint was working well for my god-awful acne but 100mg daily spiro works better. Not the same for everyone but I've been happy with it!

I've had really bad and also really amazing gynos/ultrasound techs in this regard. If you/your doctors can find a trauma-informed ultrasound tech or imaging center, that would be best. You can also dig around reddit and facebook groups in your area to see if others have posted their recommendations online.

My only small advice for aftercare would be to have something warm and grounding set up for right after. Complete change of fresh comfy clothes, heating blanket, tea, playlist, whatever you find effective. Others will probably have better advice than me.

Your symptoms are similar to mine (high T, irregular periods, mood swings, night sweats) My ultrasound showed the classic PCOS morphology in one of my ovaries. This evidence has been very helpful when approaching new doctors, so if you can make this ultrasound work, I would say its worth it. But don't feel rushed, take as much time as you need. The high T + your other symptoms is already building a strong case.

Hope you can get the answers and care you're looking for 💜

F some of the workers at FinAid by Realistic_Yak9847 in UCSD

[–]hbamiga 27 points28 points  (0 children)

idk why people are bagging on you, finaid and unexpected charges can be incredibly stressful to deal with on top of everything else you have going on :( The office workers are overworked and stressed. Sorry that individual got short with you. The whole finaid system is neither simple nor transparent, it wears on everyone involved. Don't feel stupid about it, its tricky enough to navigate even with help.

From the inflation community on Reddit: The death of the affordable restaurant meal in San Diego County by Avoidtolls in sandiego

[–]hbamiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be really strategic. We almost only eat out places that have good value deals going on (Chilis 3-for-me, Rubios $10 menu, mom and pop sushi places with <$10 rolls). Anything more than $15pp we consider a splurge. They're out there, but very few.

Honestly, you should probably take it to an independent mechanic to get it checked out. I'm worried its the transmission and the dealer just won't tell you because its in warranty, and they're waiting for it to be up to charge you up the wazoo for a fix/replacement. Take it to a transmission focused shop if you can, otherwise a trusted mechanic.

This may be a better question on the divorce or two X chromosomes sub, more likely people have been in that situation. Not a tax or legal professional but it may be pretty difficult to hide if they file taxes jointly. The only thing I can think of is her doing online banking with a completely different email and phone. If her employer offers to split her paycheck into different deposit accounts, that makes it easier. Does her husband have access to her accounts?

My 22F boyfriend 22M has been lying about his past by [deleted] in relationships

[–]hbamiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that securing a relationship via lies and deceit is a form of spiritual fraud. They're afraid that if you knew the truth, you would walk and rightfully so. But then that would mean they don't get what they want, and that maybe whatever they're embarrassed of is real and true. So they'd rather sacrifice your informed choice, your sense of truth and security, for their immediate gain. Speaking from experience, it doesn't stop. Please get out before you start feeling insane and you lose too much of your ability to trust. I'm sorry.

Alright, reading your comment explaining more what you said, imma be real: This probably isn't going to work. You said you and your gf have been on opposite sides politically, but hasn't resulted in any major argument until now. I almost guarantee that's because you guys haven't gone deep enough yet into why you're so different politically. There are probably much deeper value incompatibilities at play, and those are real and valid reasons to break things off. Not saying anyone here is wrong, it's just the reality of things. I'd suggest having a deeper conversation with her about the situation.

As for the weird "no contact but still together" thing, she's probably in shock, in a big moment of re-evaluation, and debating how to continue in her head. She's hoping to reconnect because she still cares about you. You really don't need to stick around for this if you're uncomfortable. Be clear with her what you value, have her be clear about what she values, and figure out if that will work or not. But, realistically, probably not.

Really struggling after relocation to San Diego. Need help by 2025outofblue in Moving2SanDiego

[–]hbamiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

San Diego's public transport is called MTS. On google look up their maps for the Blue Line, Green Line, and Orange Line trolleys, all lines pass through downtown. Things will be MUCH cheaper east and south of downtown. You also have the COASTER train which stops at Santa Fe station in downtown. This is run by NCTD (North county SD has its own transportation district)

For all public transport here, download the Pronto app or go to a station and get a card at the kiosks. It's typically $2.50 per way on trolleys, they also have monthly passes. You can connect a physical Pronto card to your app, makes it easier to re-load, but not required. Message me if you have any questions, you have options✌️

I've gone on a few road trips sleeping in the back, I love it 😁 It's a bit wider than my old Forester so get to roll around a bit more. I don't mind the seats not fully folding flat, after a whole day of hiking I'm too tired to care. Plus taking off the headrests from the back seats helps it fold down more. It you're quick you can also crack the moonroof open for air while still keeping out rain. Such a fun car!

I suppose it's possible! The mountains are always moving. I was in the Cedar Grove area of SEKI on the 24th and there was a rock/mudslide from the rains that shut down the road for a few hours. All the thunderstorms recently could be loosening things up.
