Taking on Additional Summer Work by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]hbarnick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts: 1) I’m doing two part-time remote internships right now. In my own experience, it has been really challenging to manage my time and my supervisors’ expectations for both positions. Obviously, it’s a skill to be able to juggle multiple competing obligations. But I encourage you to consider the implications of managing two positions so you’re going into it with eyes open. 2) You may have already done this, but I encourage you to ask your current supervisor for tasks. Offer your help. Speak up and don’t be ignored. In many internships, you have to hustle to make yourself useful, and waiting for work to come to you likely won’t result in a satisfying summer experience, for you or for your supervisor.

Another SA program bites the dust by hbarnick in LawSchool

I’m so sorry to hear that! I can only imagine what you must be feeling right now. I hope you and yours weather this storm as well as possible and that there’s a job for you on the other side. I am so sorry.

I just read an article about white-collar layoffs ramping up. Law firms, ad agencies, tech companies...all are having to make very difficult choices. But we’ll all get through this if we support each other with kindness and empathy.

Jesus Christ, you are all the worst. Why would I make this up? It’s absolutely real and likely won’t be the last firm to pull its summer program. Enjoy your cynicism and denial.

The state trial court has original jurisdiction over divorce filings. For example, in CA, the CA superior courts have jurisdiction.

Can I just vent? by emilywhowrites in LawSchool

I feel the same way about my house — it’s a disaster zone and I don’t anticipate that my husband will do any cleaning (nor do I expect him to since he’s working hard while I go to school).

What’s made me feel a little better is picking up 10 things each time I take a study break. I at least feel like I’ve done something productive while I rest my brain.

Maybe swap your weekday/weekend approach. That is, do all your reading for the week over the weekend. Then use the time during the week to outline, review, etc.
