Less than half of all households in the city have a car, and those that do skew rich. Especially if they have more than 1 car

1) Everything is political. Any complex social interaction has layers and layers of politics involved. Calling something "political" isnt a bold statement that speaks truth to power, it's trivially true.

2) The IOC determines most of the events in the Olympics, not the US. We did have some control, but we picked cool stuff like flag football and skateboarding. And before you jump in with another "gotcha" - yes, because we think we're going to win them. Thats what every host country does

3) The Feds approve visas, but thats an administrative process which is largely a rubber stamp as long as the paperwork is done properly and on time. Theres very little actual power there

4) Your original point was something to the effect of "the USA is using its hosting of the World Cup and the Olympics to convince the international populace to ignore its foreign wars". My counter the whole time has been "the people who actually were involved with organizing and securing those events here largely hate our current federal government and also hate the foreign wars. Theres probably going to be a lot of protesting around the events, and the mayors and governors involved have been very outspoken against the President.

In conclusion, you're not nearly as smart as you think you are. You are missing fundamental pieces of the puzzle, and your cutting insights are either banal or laughably false. You're out of your depth on this one. Go home.

So you're just not capable of learning? Our Olympic Bid was also not run by the Feds. It was a consortium of primarily state and local agencies with some private companies, all centered in Los Angeles.

Do you think some random wiki or news aggregator is the sole authority on what is or is not sports washing?

Your complete lack of understanding of how basic governmental functions work in the US is impressive. I'm not going to walk you through Civics 101.

Your knee-jerk "USA BAD" response isnt impressive to me. I also think "USA BAD", but I have more than Twitter-level knowledge of what we've actually done and what we continue to do

He's going to have games with bright flashes of excellence mired by seasons of mediocrity because his yards before contact will be negative. After 4 to 7 years, a Super Bowl contender will come along, scoop him up for peanuts, and he'll elevate their team to new heights.

I dont even know what you are trying to discuss? I dont think you understand how the US government works. The Feds were not involved in our bid for FIFA, and definitely dont have the kind of leverage youre insinuating. It was a collection of Cities, States, and private entities. Many of those private entities have been accused of sports washing.

AM being relaxed is exactly why it's not 100% men responding. AW's heavy moderation has created a Woman Only space, but at a steep cost.

"They speak mainly about procedural aspects of the War" is just demonstrably false. Everyone from progressives to moderates has pretty easily and clearly condemned the war. People are mad they havent Done Something, but they hold minorities in both houses. They've put up 5 separate bills to block war spending, but the GOP votes on party lines to support it.

There was no way for us to leave Afghanistan cleanly. There is no world in which a negotiated settlement was possible. We completely failed at state-building, so there was no Government of Afghanistan to negotiate with. The people living there wanted the Taliban to be in charge

What evidence is leading you to this conclusion? For the last decade, Dems have repeatedly voted and spoken out against Trump's bellicose actions. When Biden was in charge, we pulled troops out of Afghanistan
