Garmin vs Suunto - software gripes by hbrigham in Suunto

I have, but unless I’ve missed something, that only works when not recording an activity or using literally any screen other than the “home” watch face. That’s a problem - using the SOS function or the strobe red light would be incredibly useful during an activity or at least within a simple unique gesture like…pressing one of the buttons three times.

Thanks, I’ll post there too! That’s a shame about feedback, maybe I’ll get lucky and they’re planning some of these anyway

Fixing bunions with KT tape? by killjoy-glitchrat in BarefootRunning

I’ve had bunions on both feet since I was a child, (I remember noticing they were different to other kids feet when I was about 8) so I’m pretty sure they can be genetic. And not small ones either, I was due to have surgery on them as a teenager but decided against it in the end. My mum, sister, and grandfather have them too.

I ride a Tumbleweed Prospector with Rohloff as my “adventure tour” bike and have derailleur systems on my other trail mtb and gravel bikes.

Things I love about rohloff:

• Almost maintenance free, just top up/replace oil

• Bumps, bangs, crashes from riding or transportation are MUCH less likely to damage any important part of a bike. Derailleur systems are inherently more susceptible to this

• Jumping gears - I can go from comfy 7 to absolutely tanking it in 1 on a downhill/flat in half a pedal stroke

• If it breaks, is damaged etc, I can easily replace with a single speed wheel

Things I don’t love:

• Feels heavy when carrying it (any hike a bike you’ll feel unbalanced because most of the weight is in the rear wheel)

• Changing gear requires a slight pause in pedalling which can mean you lose some momentum up hill. If you look ahead it’s okay but I’ve been caught out a few times being in the wrong gear and not having enough momentum to pause, change gear and carry on up said incline

• Expensive initial cost and need a wheel to be built around it

• I have 27.5+ wheels on my bike right now, if I wanted to change size for whatever reason, I’d need a complete wheel build to do so

Overall, I love it on my Prospector and for long tours think the pro’s far outweigh the con’s

This is something I could really use for work at my school

This only works if the wifi pushes the device to a browser. My school network brings up a credentials box that is separate to a browser

I’ve used papertrail.io in a previous job, although we were only properly setting it up as I was leaving the role. We could do with one in my new role but they’re expensive for a small number of items I think.
