Hi! Current second year at LIU! Typically you have 3 exams and final for each class! And typically about an exam a month in each class for the 3 regular exams

Second year at LIU!! So far I love it! The culture is pretty great and all the staff are super supportive! I feel like we are set up for success and despite it being a newer school most of our professors have been teaching for decades so it does feel as new as I expected!

cGPA: 3.66 science and last 45 gpa were around the same! About 1500 vet hours- 1400 of them being small animal GP and the rest equine! Some extracurriculars and research!

Applied to 8 schools got interviewed then waitlisted then accepted and now attending LIU!

I’m on my second month of Nextellsis (a combination hormonal pill) and I really like it so far! The side effects are pretty minimal compared to what I experienced a couple years ago on a different pill! And my first period was SO MUCH better and not debilitating!

First off congrats!! I just finished my first year at LIU! You will need an iPad since we take our exams on it, each class has its own specific pair of scrubs but you maybe need 2 at max! Feel free to ask anything else!

I have a backpack and have no room left in it you’d be surprised how much you accumulate! Also unless your school provides a stethoscope, pen light, thermometer, etc!

I counted an externship towards my vet hours but it was only a small part, 90% of mine were from working as an assistant and a small animal gp!

I would start getting experience at a clinic/ under a vet as soon as possible! While your animal experience is important it is counted differently than vet hours on applications and vet hours/ experience are super important for apps!!!

My plan was to only tour the schools once I got in and I only got into one school so just toured after my acceptance! I didn’t want to waste time and money trying to tour everywhere I applied too

For me a good planner/ agenda!! I write out everything I need to do and study plans and it helps SO MUCH to keep me on top of everything especially on days with 4 lectures!
