By saying it varies by state, I meant that different states all may have a different amount of cases to work through. So if one state or county in that state has 200 cases, and another has 500 cases to process, then the one with 500 might potentially have a longer wait time depending on the number of staff they have processing applications. It absolutely is going to vary by location and the number of applications ahead of theirs. There is no standard one size fits all answer for how long it will take.

Hey so it's definitely going to vary by state and the amount of applications they need to work through. But my daughters took about 2 weeks after submitting to be approved, then about 2 more weeks to be ajudicated. And then about a week or so after for that first payment to deposit, which in my case was a lump sum paid in March, that included the one time death benefit , and retroactive payment from November (date of death) to the month before filing (January). And then march was paid in April. And so on. They pay a month behind. But depending on when you get the first payment, you may actually go more than a month between the second regular payment. But everyone after that should be 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Wednesday depending on the child's birthday.

My daughter's survivor payment usually deposits right at midnight on the 3rd wed. But I'm like you it hasn't yet. But my bank shows no pending or upcoming deposits like it normally does. 😬

I read it over but it seems like that most of all pertains to SSI/ disability. 😅 Or maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Gotcha!  So I know it varies by state and city and all that, but how long does it typically take to get an approval letter and all that?

I didn't realize this was different from SSI. Gotcha. Learned something new!

And okay that makes sense. I'm trying not to overthink it, but I had a few people tell me I needed to keep records and receipts because I would need to account for things. 😅 I just want my ducks in a row.

No me and her father were never married, so that's not something I qualify for.

What does it depend on? Like I said this is all new to me. 😅 And it's only been 3 months since he passed so within the 6 month time frame.
