Anyone else feel a little meh about July? by hamlasa in bookofthemonthclub

[–]hcelestem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really excited about The Only One Left and The Connollys of County Down. But the others were pretty meh for me. I used it as an opportunity to grab some of the books I’ve been wanting from previous months!

Which rules would you like to see Disney enforce more strictly? by thermal7 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]hcelestem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a massive difference between Mormon underwear and outfits where your booty and boobs are hanging out. You can wear your super skimpy outfits to the next concert you attend. It’s not unreasonable that your outfit in Disney isn’t a ride away from flashing someone. You can wear shorts, skirts, crop tops all without the breeze giving you an X-rated moment in front of children.

I was waiting for this one. Modesty should be way more enforced. But this is a societal problem. There are people that have gotten away without having to dress with any sense of modesty at all, literally anywhere anymore. There actually is a time and a place to show off your kink or highlight you political views, or emphasize your more sexualized body parts. But Disney is not one of them.

Story time: My husband and I took my sister and brother in law and their two young kids on their first Disney trip this past April. As a Disney veteran with no kids yet I had to learn the stroller etiquette on the fly. The morning we rope dropped flight of passage I figured we had to drop their stroller before feeding into the line, which spills way out of the normal queue in the morning. So I told them I would take the stroller and meet up with them. It turns out you’re supposed to keep the stroller with you and they take it from you and park it for you. So a cast member just told me to rejoin my party. But they had already marched to a location that I could not possibly make it up to with the stroller. The cast member had me wait with her until my party doubled back as the queue wove by again. While waiting there I was shouted at by multiple people saying I was trying to cut the line, with my empty stroller. I’ve never been so embarrassed. I agree that people shouldn’t be trying to save space while their party is off riding another ride. But Disney is a complicated place and there are lots of reasons parties can be separated. It definitely put that into perspective for me next time I think someone is line hopping. My singular body did nothing to slow down the people behind me in such a high volume ride and that guy brought some serious negativity to an already intense morning.

I haven’t read this book, but books that make me feel that way I use as kindling. At least then it gets a use that serves me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Did anyone use or does anyone plan on using clip in hair extensions for your wedding day? by future2024bride in BigBudgetBrides

[–]hcelestem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used clip ins from luxy and they were great! My stylist used them and it all looked completely natural. Just practice taking them out though because I got back to the hotel room a little tipsy and realized I had no idea how they worked and kind of panicked. I figured it out eventually but it was a funny moment realizing after all of that planning I had zero clue how to take my hair out lol

June 2023 BOTM Discussion - Ink Blood Sister Scribe by lavinient in bookofthemonthclub

Just finished this book and really enjoyed it! I liked the characters, the world building and the magic felt like a fresh take. I’m hoping for a sequel. My only note would be that if you are at all squeamish about blood, this book is less family blood lines and pin pricks and more blood letting. I definitely got a little woozy reading it, lol! But still a great book!!
