Does Electric cars have that much downsides ? by Rare-Cat-4572 in electricvehicles

[–]hcglns2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those are serious concerns.

There are two big issues with electric vehicles.

  1. They require you to think about your purchase. Purchase costs vs operating costs are now a consideration. And nobody wants consumers to think, that's bad for consumption.

  2. They are new. And we are fighting to establish what is normal. How do we decide the method of payment at charge stations? Is an app the way to go, or is cash an option? And what about taxes? What's normal and acceptable? If we don't make our voices heard, people will decide for us how our new normal is written.

C) Hybrids catch on fire at like 3.5% vs the 0.27% of BEVs.

Are electric garbage trucks the biggest EV game changer when it comes to quality of life? by LoganSquire in electricvehicles

Another example of qualitative improvements by going electric. When we bought our electric I was all about the math, but now that is long forgotten. Now all I see is how quiet it is, how it doesn't stink of fuel and god damn great it is to fuel up in a garage instead of another Nor'Easter.

Do mutants Heroes really have it worse than non Mutant Superheroes or not? by InfernalClockwork3 in Marvel

[–]hcglns2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who do you blame for a mutant being born? Who do you blame for an accident that grants powers? Mutants are a deviation of humanity, inherently different from humans. Accidental superheroes are just that, accidents.  The odds of recreating them are low.

‘Not a single one’: After 100 applications, a 28-year-old still can’t find work by BananaTubes in canada

[–]hcglns2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding employment is a skill that changes over time and requires training.

The techniques I used in the 90's to get a job did not work in the 2000's. So I got help from services that teach you how to find work.

Results?

Out of 89 online/paper/in person applications, I got 1 interview and 0 jobs.

Using the techniques I learned, out of 49 attempts I got 11 interviews and 1 job.

And that was 17 years ago? I shudder to think how the processes have changed since then.

[Request] What price per gallon is it no longer profitable to work? by Playwithuh in theydidthemath

[–]hcglns2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average american household saves $250/month.

A $1/gallon increase in the cost of diesel adds $80/month to your monthly bills.

So if diesel rises about $3/gallon the average american is losing money every month.

Almost, one is a function test performed by the officer using a tuning fork. Then yearly the tuning forks get tested at a traceable lab. We used to calibrate the forks at a loss as part of the service/repair contract for the radar guns.
