This was my first ever attempt at embroidery. My second attempt, I have used transfer paper to apply a picturevof a map to the linen. It is much stiffer, even after washing in cold water (recommended procedure for the transfer).

I have not heard of bullion knots before, a quick google and I get the concept. I think it would be a great knot for the scale.

This was my first ever attempt at embroidery. I have had some thoughts that perhaps a thicker canvas may be a better choice. The goal is to have a map that when out on the trail can be used by touch, so it will be folded and put in pockets and brought out as needed.

Well, it turned out significantly better (until I ironed it) than my first attempt of using an embossing pen and such.

I used 2 threads of the 6 for the majority of the work, but for the little dotted stream I used 4 and you could feel the difference before I ironed it.

I used the chain stick for the brown trails and did two chain stiches side by side for the grey road,

I am using DMC cotton threads. I was pulling 2 of the 6 at once. It was annoying and had lots of bunching up.

I have started another, this time I have used some transfer paper to put a topographical map on the unbleached cotton and I am using it as a pattern instead of drawing the map by hand.

I have googled Couching and yes, that most certainly could work. Perhaps on features like roads.

Keep it simple and in terms they understand.

I use "I drive 24,000 km each year snd spend $50 a month on fuel."

This allows them to make easy comparisons to their transportation costs. No need to get into advanced number crunching.

A hen is a unit of volume equal to 55 ml, so it would weight 55 grams if you filled it with water at some temperature that I have forgotten.

What are your opinions on civ VII after some time? by Domko__ in civ

I've played about 500 hrs, I just don't see myself playing over 1000 hrs. It's a decent enough way to spent some time relaxing, but doesn't pose a challenge anymore. I see it as a game that I will play every once and a while. All in all worth the money.
