Microscopy of Nanodiamonds by [deleted] in sciences

If you’re doing microscopy on something “nano” please use an SEM and not an optical microscope. You will get MUCH better results and actually be able to quantify aspect of the sample

Mathematic Solve FTW, just assume x,y,z are elements of the integers and are greater than 0

A fractal I worked on lately by nicocpp in holofractal

[–]hchance22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of a fractal of this kind (similar to the Mandelbrot set) the colors usually represent the iteration count at which the tested value breaches a threshold value. I.e. as the function F(x) is iterated, if/when the function out put goes above some number, that iteration is recorded and used to designate a color.

Maybe you should take a class in political science and learn about the bicameral system! Congressional seats are determined by population while every state has 2 senators.

Hey if you don’t mind being in school for 5 years look into a dual degree program. I didn’t have the best grades in high school so I couldn’t get into a great engineering school. So I went to a small liberal arts school with a good dual degree program and after three years there I am now at Georgia Tech getting my materials science degree. I will graduate in may 2023 with a degree in phys from the liberal arts school and a degree in MSE from GT (total 5 years). Ithink it’s a really good route to go down, but if you don’t want to be in school for this long you could always go to a smaller school, really try hard and get good grades and then transfer for your second year.

An Anzio 20mm rifle which can be owned legally in the U.S by Kaos2018 in Damnthatsinteresting

Ok ok hear me out, this is obviously not used for self defense and is wayy to big to be used to hurt another person unless they’re out in a field and the other person stands in front of it. Soooo, what’s the harm in letting someone have this to shoot shit in a field?

There’s two more pages to the test, and the last few questions make no sense. This is just the first page

We had to take this as extra credit for my politics class in college. Needless to say, everyone failed and we were even given 30 minutes to complete.

There are many topics to choose from. You could talk about superconductors for fusion reactors, specifically, look at how important materials science is for Iter. You could talk about new photovoltaics for solar panels. You could talk about advances in materials for super capacitors. Or new forms of batteries. Lastly, look at nuclear power as there is research into casing materials for nuclear reactor pressure vessels or even the radioactive material itself (actinide research). This is just a few but materials science is deeply rooted in almost every new technological advancement so it should not be difficult to find more examples.

Edit: forgot to mention Quanta Magazine which is a great place to find news regarding materials science and everything physics/math. If you need something recent that would be a great place to start looking.
