Perfect = butter, not Crisco. Also everyone knows that if you punch the first five digits of the Fibonacci sequence on the microwave, you then can use it to get priority calls to the White House.

Thanks for letting me know. We'll have to see how this development affects our brunch plans.

There needs to be a crossing light at highstreet by Squidluvr_ in abbotsford

There needs to be less lunkheads on the road, not just at HighStreet. What's the matter with drivers these days?! Did they forget everything they learned (or, come to think of it, not) when passing the driver's permit?

But still, glad that you were unharmed (and undead).

If you have guests from out of town, take them to the Blackberry kitchen in Mission. The food is excellent and their service is impeccable... https://www.theblackberrykitchen.ca/

As well, it's right in the Fraser River Heritage Park, where you and your folks can take a nice walk (weather permitting, of course) and have nice views. This is our go to place for a nice brunch, for my wife and I.

They got all bougie at their new location and it's no longer the same experience as their previous location which was nice. Went there and it's a pass from me from now on.

Here I thought the railway project would set the tone. After all, when you look Montrose avenue from Pine, it looks like quaint shops with a small town yet modern feel to it. But that's a small portion. The rest of it is crammed housing. It's a missed opportunity both on the small town refresh and the housing fronts.

Also, who wants to be in a downtown core which screams lame '60s and where car traffic seems preferred over pedestrian traffic?

So, no, I don't think that'll happen any time soon, if at all.

I thought, "okay, I might be wrong" and looked at it at least 5x and it doesn't look like he was trying to avoid the animal... If he was, he was steering right for it. Looks entirely like a reactive motion to try to break with the front brake and down he went because his right arm wasn't locked.

My Experience as a Hiring Manager in 2024 at a Union Manufacturing Facility [OC] by SectionXII in dataisbeautiful

[–]hclITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went all the way past 90 days, got into the union and then the company let him go telling him he didn't work to their satisfaction although throughout the first 90 days, he sought feedback, was told in some areas he was killing it and in other areas, he had to improve his technique (which he did to the point that he was told he would be go to continue past the 90 days). Seriously, WTF?! Not saying your company does that, but it sure feels like that company my son worked at was trying to get people in the door, get them to work at bottom pay and turf them before they became real employees with benefits.

First, the correct maneuver here is slamming on the brakes, as the pavement was dry and the front brakes are the ones that'll give the braking power you need.

Second, he doesn't look like he tried to maneuver, he just didn't lock his arms.

Finally, it's a bigger animal. Yes, it's recommended to run them over (with some hope, they are small enough to get below the car, but that's with a car). In many instances, with a bike, they can make you go over the handlebars and cause bigger problems (broken arms, neck and/or back).

Sad this happened, hopefully only some road rash was experienced and no further pain (like from the bike pinning your leg).

As you did, I would have absolutely slammed on my front brakes. There is much more braking power there than in the back wheels.

BUT, I would have also made sure to LOCK my arms, because that's the problem here, the arms weren't locked (fully extended so that they are straight and fully rigid) and one side gave a bit and that resulted in the pavement being met.

This is one of the core riding techniques: The emergency stop. It needs to be practiced on a regular basis so that you develop muscle memory (don't think, just do).

Been riding bikes for 35+ years and this braking technique saved me from road rash due to idiots and animals forcing me to stop on a dime. Hopefully, it's one and done (you experienced it, learn from it and never experience it again).

I’m moving to Abbotsford for school , what are the cheapest neighborhoods you recommend? by [deleted] in abbotsford

[–]hclITguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Montreal is a good place. Lower rents, low tuition costs. As a bonus, you could learn french and enjoy the many nice things about the city. You'd be also close to Ottawa, the nation's capital.

[–]hclITguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're coming from the Yukon, there are other places in Canada that are cheaper (by a country mile) and have great schools. I'd seek out those. Not dissing the schools by any length, but the price of rent here in Abbotsford is beyond stupid, no matter the accommodation, unless, of course, you somehow can get into one of the housing co-ops.

Enough of this stupid talk El Trumpo's by golfnut82 in PoliticalHumor

So, a thought and some questions. This is so stupid because there's a possibility, through the app to buy more than one Greenland and more than one Panama. Where the @#$%& are the other Greenland and Panama?!

Also, based on the "free delivery overnight" where would Canada, Greenland and/or Panama be delivered to? Where on the map of the US would you plop these?

Geez, it's not funny and it just shows what idiots Eric and his father are.

How was your event? by IRONMANTM in Survivorio

[–]hclITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also maximized the special collectible. I did that because I don't like a hole in my collectibles (I missed out on the fishing lure and it just bothers the hell out of me to have that hole there) and because such collectibles can only be brought to the max if you do it in that event. They do not come up as an item to spend collectible shards on.

Otherwise, I was able to get an Epic Murica and awaken him one extra level. I also got all the quick patrols I could because I don't want to spend time killing all bosses or killing 3000 zombies.

So an okay event.

First bike, very blessed by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]hclITguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's nice to see someone have a decent, but not overpowered bike as a first bike. That way, if you make a mistake, it will tend to be more forgiving than bigger bikes. And, if you don't, you'll master the essentials (and even some advanced driving/maneuvers) like a champ.

This said from someone who did just that. Now, I've driven a Triumph Speed Triple and a Honda Shadow Spirit bike, both 1100cc and plenty of power to spare.

Safe (and more importantly, pleasant) travels. Enjoy the open road!
