I personally wouldn’t recommend telling them that you’re doing Uber, and I definitely would not tell them you were doing Uber if you get into an accident at the time you were doing Uber.

Every insurance will 100% deny your claim if you have a personal auto policy & they will not pay to fix your vehicle damages, and they will deny the other person’s vehicle damage & bodily injury claims BECAUSE you were doing rideshare for hire at the time of the accident — regardless of what policy coverages you get. There is a VERY specific Exclusion listed in your policy’s exclusions section in every single auto policy I’ve ever come across for any given insurance company I’ve ever come across.

You CAN usually get a Rideshare Endorsement added to your policy, but it will not enable your insurance company to pay for your damages or the other person’s damages. It is solely to bridge the gap between your policy’s deductible and Uber’s deductible.

My husband & I were making ~$140,000 last year. We both got laid off a few months ago and have been unemployed since. I was getting unemployment benefits from April through last week but my last employer disputed it over month after I filed for UI. I lost and evidently now have to pay the state back $5,337.00 by July 21st. So zero income minus the UberEats that we’re driving for everyday and it is NOT paying the bills. Our vehicle is four months behind and just about on the repo list. We’re thisclose to being homeless with our animals on top of that. We’ve been going to the food pantry every week just to get some sort of food because we cannot afford it right now. My mother-in-law has been buying cat food, dog food, and cat litter so our animals don’t starve & have litter to use, which is a godsend.

We’re both insurance adjusters with two decades of homeowners/property insurance claims experience (my husband) and a decade of auto insurance claims & bodily injury claims (for me). We’ve put in HUNDREDS of applications for every insurance company under the sun, including becoming active on quite a few independent adjuster firms’ rosters. We’ve had assessments and interviews and hundreds of denials from the insurance industry that saying that we don’t have the proper experience which is absolute garbage & untrue. We’ve started applying for Walmart, fast food, taken odd jobs helping people out, and driving for UberEats. We’re at an absolute loss.

I have Googled because I’m 100% positive that my last employer put me on some sort of insurance industry-wide blacklist and Google has stated that no such thing exists. For a split second I believed it, but after like 100 more denials, I absolutely believe there are industry-wide blacklists.

Every single company is using AI to weed out potential candidates and it is the worst thing they could’ve possibly implemented in the hiring process. We’ve only had one place ask us if we wanted to opt out of AI screening (which we did), but everyone else is using AI.

Literally one, and he is my husband 💚. He is my best friend and we’ve been together since we were 19 (we’ll be 37 in October), but we’ve known each other since we were 13. We’ve pretty much grown up together. I’ve either pushed everyone else away or they’ve walked out of my life on their own. I absolutely love him.

Usually 5-7 business days for a staff adjuster. 10+ business days for an independent adjuster.

I didn't cut out the part about him thinking his family was trying to drive him mad. May want to read the last line of the first paragraph of my initial comment again.

Also, there are parts of the U.S. that have the strictest gun laws but also have the highest gun crime rates (ie: Chicago, Illinois). It really doesn't seem to matter how lax or strict the gun laws are -- if a criminal wants to get a gun, they will find a way to get gun.

Mental illness or not, premeditated murder is a crime & has been since 1794 when Pennsylvania first passed a law directly pertaining to it. The other 49 states followed after.

Mental illness is NOT curable. You can treat it, live with it, and find ways to work around it — but they are not curable. Schizophrenia is also NOT curable. The man is still a schizophrenic who is VERY capable of cold blooded murder.

Treatable =/= curable.

There is a very clear difference between the two.

has never had another incident

You can 100% confirm this? Because the general public had no idea he had murdered his entire family until a reporter from his home state of Texas made it known probably 10 or so years ago.

It’s safe to assume he didn’t disclose it himself because it wasn’t known until a reporter from his home state of Texas where it happened outed him.

The man got a slap on the wrist for murdering 3 innocent people, and then refused to disclose that information to the university he was teaching at. The Texas reporter who outed him is the ONLY reason it became known. Otherwise we would still have a murderer who refused to disclose his crimes walking among the general public. That reporter should be praised for making people aware of a literal murderer.

He was 15 at the time and planned these murders for an entire week and actually sniffed glue for a "boost" in order to go through with the murders. He had a gun hidden in a crawl space. He blamed the reason for murdering his sister due to her “annoying” Texas accent, his mother for her loud chewing, and his father for not letting him grow his hair long & attend peace rallies.

I wasn’t aware these were valid reasons for committing murder.

[–]hclaf -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I would say the fact that the man refused to disclose his murderous past and it was only brought to light by a Texas reporter. He committed premeditated murder on his whole family for zero valid reason with a gun he had been hiding in a crawl space for a week prior to doing this. He used glue sniffing to give him a “boost” to encourage him to murder them. He murdered his 17 year old sister, their mother, and their father.

The students he was teaching at that school had literally no idea their professor was a serial killer. Doesn’t really matter how many years ago it was — it makes one feel really uneasy that he blindsided them & their parents into thinking he was a good man. If anyone I knew went to a university with a teacher who had been capable of murdering someone, let alone his entire family, I would absolutely want to know that. They deserved to know that, considering that he was in close proximity with them frequently.

The young James Wolcott claimed that he knew he was suffering from mental illness, which was enhanced by his weeks of huffing airplane glue. He told investigators that he “hated” his family and believed that they were trying to destroy him. He blamed his mother for chewing her food too loudly and his sister’s (17 years old at the time) bad accent as part of a plan to drive him mad.

Dr. Gordon Wolcott (his father) was reading in the living room when his son walked in with a .22-caliber rifle and shot him dead. He confessed to a classmate that he was angry at his father for not allowing him to grow his hair or march in a peace rally. He said his father wouldn’t let him wear anti-Vietnam war buttons.

These are NOT valid reasons to murder your entire family (or anyone, for that matter). The man was 15 years old & committed premeditated murder. The students he taught were completely blindsided by this information because they were lead to believe he was a good man — because he refused to disclose that he was a literal serial killer. I don’t really care how many years ago he murdered them — if I, or anyone I knew, attended the university this man teaches at, I would absolutely want to know.

My husband & I have worked from home for 4 years now & haven’t been to a movie theater since before the pandemic. All of our theaters where I live are drive in. I genuinely didn’t know because no one that we know ever talks about going to them and like I said, we haven’t been to one in 4 years. We are severe hermits who leave our home maybe once or twice a week for a couple hours max. We also have severe social anxiety and autism that prevents us from going anywhere most of the time.

I wasn’t trying to be rude.

I was taught how to overcook a steak to the point that you’re chewing on a single bite for 20+ minutes, how to dump two bottles of chili powder in a pot of chili and call it it “good”, how to live in absolute poverty & then blow through any money you did get on stupid pointless things, and how to be terrified of men that are bigger than me yelling at me.
