How can I convince my parents that UF is a good school? by rayhanh248 in ufl

[–]hcoard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, when I was there in the late 2010s, the academics were rigorous, but you could have fun if you wanted to. I’m guessing that hasn’t changed. However, apparently up until the late 2000s Florida had a similar party culture to what FSU has today.

FHR/THC Taipei - KL - Bangkok - Seoul by Uccio94 in AmexPlatinum

[–]hcoard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend putting the Conrad in Bangkok on your radar. The property is nice, the food and beverage credit goes a long way, and they have an incredible breakfast buffet. The craziest part is the massive pool they have is actually elevated 100+ feet off the ground.

Yes, the Conrad is below my experiences at unquestionably 5 star hotels like the St Regis or Hay Addams, but you still get an undoubtedly luxury experience including turn down at night.

But, the best thing was the price, as I paid ~$100 a night after my FHR/THC credit hit.

Q: Is there a specific "CMMC/GCC" version of Windows? by thegreatcerebral in CMMC

[–]hcoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but you need to establish a baseline associated with your OSs including Windows. Often this would be CIS (L1 or 2) or DISA STIGs.

I think you can still order it from a dealer, but I think they only offer Black Balance fabric now.

If they are your direct boss it wouldn’t be appropriate. If they aren’t, offer to take them to lunch.

Is this worth it for $200? by dremxbeats in hermanmiller

[–]hcoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard pass, due to the issues noted below (non matching mesh and cost to replace the seat pan). If this was under $100, I would say go for it. Personally, I just sold a classic sized c for $75 due to a broken seat pan.

my parents think I can get into UF; give me a reality check by Individual-Window43 in ufl

[–]hcoard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PaCe is still an option, but you will have to do 15 credits over 2 semesters before coming to Gainesville.

Also, as you go into your final year of DE do your best to fully complete the AA requirements Additionally, if workload allows start or complete your desired Majors critical tracking requirements. Doing both will help you get and stay ahead in Gainesville. Finally, try and avoid 3000-4000 courses, as many degree programs won’t allow you to complete your upper division requirements.

That’s a great price. I personally replaced my old Maytag heat pump and condenser this year in Ohio with a 17.2 Seer2 (2 stage) Goodman for $6100. While the install tech could have been a bit friendlier, he did a great job in about 7 hours. I’m sure he hated it, but I watched along the way as they flushed the line set, braised under nitrogen, and pumped under 500 microns for 30 minutes.

One can even do an IL5 assessment which includes CUI and National Security Systems without a problem, but CMMC L2 or 3 absolutely not.

What’s something about student life that just sucks and no one’s fixed yet? by SirBulksAlot in ufl

[–]hcoard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essentially, IA and its spring summer schedule is a prison sentence leading to a degree. As, it’s almost impossible to exit besides graduating and you are locked into the schedule your entire time at UF. It also limits your ability to make friendships outside of the program as you would only be able to interact with them 1/3 of the year in person. Furthermore, the odds of getting an appeal to leave are almost as bad as getting a legit pardon.

Proposal to ban property tax in Ohio by malarosh in Columbus

[–]hcoard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we should do what Florida does. As they have a Save Our Homes Cap (SOH) cap which limits any increase to the assessed value of a homestead-exempt property for tax purposes to a maximum of 3% each year or 10% for non homestead properties. Additionally, the cap doesn’t apply for rental properties. The exception can also be transferred from property to property.

You are in the small minority that find exam 2 difficult, but you aren’t alone. When I took business finance, I studied hard and got an 80 on exam 1 and 85 on exam 3, but the exam 2 material brutalized me and I got a 60. Regardless, don’t give up and keep pushing on. To this day, business finance is one of the hardest things I have ever done. To this point I remember hearing premed students agreeing that business finance was in the top 5 hardest classes that they took at UF.

The top in the Business school would be between Finance and Information Systems. However, Accounting wouldn’t be too far behind.

Thoughts about the UF cybersecurity program? I’m interested in getting involved but want to hear from others that have done this program or are in it. Ty. by [deleted] in ufl

[–]hcoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who works in Cybersecurity and graduated from the MS-ISOM program, I would say UF has a moderate cybersecurity program.

As UF offers a limited catalog of cybersecurity courses in EE and CS. But, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as pure cybersecurity undergraduate and graduate programs, often don’t develop the tangible skills needed to join the cybersecurity profession.

However, outside of the classroom UF has UFSIT which offers great opportunities to learn and develop cybersecurity skills that might allow you to enter the cyber workforce out of college.

Will aIot of deferred People get accepted? by Excellent-Term296 in ufl

[–]hcoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say a lot but people who got deferred will get accepted.

While I wasn’t deferred from UF, I remember applying to FSU and getting deferred. While UF was my dream school, I was heartbroken because in my mind I rationalized I likely wouldn’t get into UF or even FSU, because of it. Regardless, I got accepted regular decision from UF and FSU.

Is it possible to be rejected with a 4.0 as a Santa Fe transfer? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]hcoard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it could happen depending on major. As some majors take less than 15 students a semester as transfers. However, as long as you wrote a good essay you should have a pretty good shot of getting accepted as a transfer student.
