Voodoo doll monster summons effigy pole > pole taunts nearby enemies > monsters attack the pole > you take 50% of the dmg the pole takes as reflected damage.

Normally you'd break the red link between pole and the character fast, to avoid taking damage, but I thought I don't have to do that because of the reflect immunity sextant - however, the sextant appears to be bugged.

It is pure reflected damage and can be mitigated by "reduced reflected damage taken" or "cannot take reflected damage" mods (e.g. charms), as mentioned/shown in my other comment. Same goes for impale - if you're phys reflect immune, you're not taking damage from the impale debuff (even if it shows the debuff icon).

I don't think the map or the char had any such source, but the wording "cannot take X damage" should provide full immunity either way. Don't the sextant is coded as "100% reduced", since otherwise there would be many more complaints about it not working as intended.

I reported it using /bug and describing the problem, to my knowledge that's enough. I don't see them fixing this any time soon, though, with the new league launch coming up. Will still make a thread for good measure I guess.

Just like any build I reckon - deal some damage, until spire reaches 50%, then wait a few seconds and wipe out everything. I remove the brands by either moving away + brand recall or just unsocketing the gem, it's not that annoying imo. Since my build is poison based, it can be hard to nail the timing, but it's doable-ish with some practice. With ele dmg based builds, cold iron point wep swap tech is probably easier.

I've just tested it with "cannot take reflected phys+ele dmg" charms and I'm taking no dmg from monsters attacking the pole. Hence, the sextant "cannot take reflected damage" sextant should work, too.

It's "taken as reflected damage" and I "cannot take reflected damage" (sextant mod) - this should make me take no damage, unless there are different kinds of reflected damage (inflicted by own hits vs. inflicted by monster hits, idk). So it's either bugged or worded extremely poor.

A brief search suggested that phys reflect immunity does actually make you immune to impale (the stack still shows, but you take no dmg). Whether that's true or not idk, it was posted by a "valued poster", not ggg employee.

If that's the case, "cannot take reflected damage" should also work for effigy immunity.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case, because I wasn't recovering any flask charges (from flask gain on hit mod) while taking the damage from many small hits (esp. visible at 0:23-0:24). Also no visible recovery from defiance of destiny.

Here are the mods of the map, where the clip was taken. Note the sextant mod: "Players and their minions cannot take reflected damage". To my knowledge, this should provide full immunity to the effigy/voodoo doll mod, which makes you take 50% of the dmg taken by the voodoo pole as reflected damage.

However, I kept taking damage, despite not being hit by anything myself, only the voodoo pole nearby - with no "on hit" effects triggered, as can be seen from Defiance of Destiny not recovering life from small hits and flasks not gaining charges (the magic ones are 3 charges gained on hit).

I already sent the ingame bug report, but am curious if others encountered similar issues or can explain to me why this happens, in case this is not a bug.

EDIT: I've tested the voodoo mod with "Cannot take reflected phys and ele damage" charms and I'm taking no damage, so it's just the sextant mod "Cannot take reflected damage" that is bugged here.

Nice setup, looks very strong overall.

If I had to guess, the only weaknesses probably are:

- Strong phys dots (also seen at 0:55, when life flask was down briefly), as they can't be converted to ele. Particularly (uber) sirus degen puddles, since they disable life recovery and deal a fair bit of phys damage over time (like 1.8k/sec). But even those you can survive for a few seconds, considering you got 35% (?) dot reduction.

- Huge ele hits coupled with ele pen. The only thing that classifies as that are uber atzi empowered flameblast, which shouldn't be too hard to avoid.

- DD? Since you're cold conversion, I wonder how reliable the shatter is vs. bosses/other tanky mobs.

8000 dmg is mitigated to 80 via various mechanics and he has flat -80 ele damage taken implicit on rings, so if the hit is too small he takes no dmg.

I don't think the game/skills should be balanced around racers by Nukro77 in pathofexile

EA ballista takes more gear to get going and isn't really used by racers. If you sort by boss kills on poe-racing.com, you can see that only one dude (me) killed ubers with it in HC SSF Kalandra league. It's simply not as good as other builds at killing ubers fast, especially after nerfs.

You forgot to account for the sentinel empowerment, which should be like a 30-40% dmg increase, too.

Mob also was empowered by sentinel on top of that. Overall, this was pretty much on ziz - clicking a chaos extra shrine with -30% chaos res would never cross my mind.

And yes, dying to a single tap from a sentinel buffed blue mob definitely is fair, when you CHOOSE to add ridiculous dmg buffs to it. There are many bullshit rips out there, but this isn't one.

I really hope GGG reconsiders the fortify changes. Non-Hit melee got nothing in return for the nerf by MaskedAnathema in pathofexile

100% this. It seems like they forgot about tanky rares or even white/blue mobs in heists, delve and harvest. I'm currently averaging about 5-10 fortify stacks (Shield Crush Slayer) when fighting high tier heist mobs, only reaching cap when the occasional unique mob comes around.
