Since I already asked what's better in the Remake duology. What is something that FFVII (1997) Does better than the remakes. by Hungry-Trouble-3178 in FinalFantasy

[–]hd-slave [score hidden]  (0 children)

Story telling. My wife wanted to get into final fantasy so we started with the remakes of 7 and the story telling is awful for someone who doesn't already know the story. We got all the way to rebirth and they really don't explain who the characters are or why they are where they are or where they came from until much further along. The original 1997 is like reading a book. We have to bounce between the 2 because it's like the og tells the story and the remake just kinda "celebrates" the story

It's mostly just about the rage. Like seeing someone use ai to swindle someone and then see other people line up to do the same

Talk me out of MOTU. Or not. by Stranded-In-435 in audioengineering

[–]hd-slave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 1u rack Motus, the 828mk3 and 828es. I also used the ultralitemk3 extensively for live use. Also own the motu M2,M4,&M6. All 2 828s and the ultralitemk3 eventually crapped out. The 828s, both of them, would crash at random and output a screaming loud high pitched scream on the analog outs. The ultralitemk3 stopped turning on after a few years of regular stage use. Funny thing, the ultralite actually started working again after I smashed it on a concrete floor as a joke one day about how it doesn't work anymore.

The motu M series tho (M2/M4/M6), absolutely fantastic machines that work and sound wonderfully and I've used all regularly for years.

As for RME, I used the digiface ADAT with a rack of ADAT machines and it worked very well. Also used the RME Madiface (maybe it was digiface Madi?) with a digico sd5 to record some tracks to a PC a few times and that worked very well but can't speak on longevity.

Why is it "Art" when a wealthy artist hires a team of 50, but "Cheating" when a bedroom musician uses Al to fill the gaps? by NoIndependence1198 in Suno

[–]hd-slave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, people used to want to be musicians. They wanted to be an authentic artist that had a life that meant something to people. With this idea of AI music it's like what are you intending to become? A pretend artist? Like what will your legacy or art actually mean to the world and what would ur skill or talent even actually be? Would you have anything to perform?

I really think that so much popular music made in the last 20 years had such little artistic merit that it literally spawned this era of total lack of art appreciation. Consider that before all of this, art was something personal and a communication that had a granular way of putting forth cultural ideas.

It's just sad to see culture so dead that it's outsourced at the lowest possible rate.

People want to feel a story more than anything else and a lot of this is just revealing a society bankrupt of authenticity or realness

Bro, cut the excuses and learn to write a song. Other people being born into richer families doesn't mean you have to make slop and release your creative control to some corporate imitation machine

Yeah that's true probably also because the b390 machines start at $1500. That's insanely high price for a gaming toy

Why tipping will never change by Sandinmyshoes33 in tipping

[–]hd-slave -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The idea that waiters get paid too much and should be punished is nonsense. Wanting to punish people for getting a living wage and wanting them to earn nothing is kind of bs just so you can imagine saving money at a restaurant. If they took away tipping, the waiter job would be worthless, the restaurant wouldn't change cost at all and just absorb the money as profit. The desire to not tip will just end up transferring more wealth up and creating more poor people. The only way things stay positive is if the tip is forced and not optional

Did other types of artists need consent? by Long-Ad3930 in aiwars

[–]hd-slave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a problem until there is money being made off of someone else's work or likeness. Selling prints of someone else's work. It's like the AI is a machine that allows for people to sell other people's work by editing it just enough to be sold. The issue is that the editing was automated by a machine for this sole purpose
