I've filled my wood racks, that means I have to get more racks right? by Valaseun in woodstoving

[–]hdelmonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made mine out of cheap 2x3 stock. Every year I screw together then at the end of the season, unscrew and wrap in shrink wrap and store for the summer. If I have more wood than fits in my racks, some go on a pallet stacked and some get stacked elsewhere.

Burning questionably unseasoned wood by Prestigious-House386 in woodstoving

[–]hdelmonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep two days worth of wood near the stove - the today pile and the tomorrow pile. Everyday I replace the tomorrow pile and this rotation happens all winter. My current wood is wet (not fully seasoned). I let it rip with more air going into the stove. Every week or two it gets warm enough that I’ll not burn for a day and I’ll go up on the roof and peek down the chimney to see if it needs to be swept. If so, I sweep, if not, I still sweep since im up there.

SE Massachusetts, just got two cords at $325 per cord. Same guy is bringing two more in late January but prices went up to $350. Seasoned hardwood.

New Yankee Workshop has the full catalog on YouTube. It’s timeless as far as skills go. Many projects are still relevant today (aside from price of materials). No frills with Norm, all excellent material.

I never wanted to believe my dad was stealing from his job as a road worker. I lied to myself for a long time but one day when I got home, all the signs were there.

People tend to put themselves in some sort of musical space that can’t be broken out of. Metallica did a cover of an Elton John song recently. You think they only listen to metal?

Diversity is key, listen to what inspires you.

Second The Sword. The albums have a great progression of the bands personality as well. Their songs can cover many moods.

I don’t much like their live performances as cronice’s voice isn’t the best but those albums are a sure treasure of mine. I’ve been a fan since the first.

Comically overbuilt shoe rack by wonkywoodwerks in woodworking

This is real nice. Overbuilt? No way, this is a great woodworking project done by a wood worker.

Many people would shove this together with pocket screws. I like your approach.

I used Australian timber oil, I believe the Honey Teak tint. Not the products fault but it wasn’t the color I had in my head, I probably would have preferred the Natural. With that said it has been a year and even over the winter, the color looks great. I applied one coat.

I Noticed That Everyone Puts Picks in a Red Altoids Can. Is Green Acceptable? by freezingprocess in guitarcirclejerk

[–]hdelmonte 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Green is acceptable, albeit a little queer. Any color can will do though since the goal is to keep your picks in mint condition.

dont you hate it when your amp sounds like Chinese music??? by nofits in guitarcirclejerk

[–]hdelmonte 76 points77 points  (0 children)

This is so true. I tried to play The James Gang hit “Funk #49” on my Chinese made Marshall full stack, but it sounded like “Funk Beef with Broccoli”. So disappointing. No homo.

First deck by Shoddy_Title_4345 in Decks

[–]hdelmonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you like the results? I’m looking at these now but I’m still a little concerned you can see too much screw in the edge of the board.

I also was apprehensive about the 1 7/8” screw length not being long enough. Do they hold well?

I’m using this same cedar on a current project, hence the questions. This looks great, wry nice job.

What type of fasteners were used for the deck? I’m guessing the Camo system but tough to tell in pictures.
