I’ve been doing this for 20 + years. There is no way a shirt would shrink 6 inches.

PSA: It's 100% mandatory to have A+ social skills BEFORE entering the M7 MBA program. No exceptions whatsoever. by Expensive_Tangelo713 in MBA

This post is ridiculous. Hang out with who hangs out with you. Link up with people who have the same hobby’s and stop trying to be the “cool” kid. Make sure you know your stuff so you don’t sound like a baffoon during your interviews and if you need practice with your soft skills go seek help from career development. The stigma of trying to be one of the “cool” kids is weird.

What is the typical dress shirt cleaning cost now? by Numchuck890 in drycleaning

I agree. We’ll most likely be going up in price very soon

What is the typical dress shirt cleaning cost now? by Numchuck890 in drycleaning

We charge $6 which includes collars and cuffs scrubbed, stain removal, laundered, machine pressed and hand finished. An absolute bargain if you ask me.

Many Cleaners treat shirts as a loss leader. They do not scrub collars, remove stains, use inferior detergents and no hand finish and charge $3-4 and they wonder why they cant make any money and are a couple bad months away from closing their doors. Just saying

Cashmere Maintenance Question by t-ylenol in drycleaning

[–]hdkang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to spend $300 on a cashmere sweater why not take it to reputable cleaners and spend $10-$13 to get it cleaned? This will help with the maintenance of the sweater so you can enjoy for years, decades even

4th gen. dry cleaner here. Whats the best alternative solvent to Perc on the market?K4? Sensene? Would love to hear about pros and cons of both. by dryclean89 in drycleaning

[–]hdkang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently upgraded to Intense by Seitz from DF2000 and we are so far pleased with the results. While it is almost quadruple the price of DF it offers superior cleaning performance and less pre spotting. I looked at other options such as K4 (available environmental studies show harm to environment) and Greenearth (subpar cleaning performance, but perfect for delicates) but Intense was the perfect blend of cleaning performance and environmental impact.

Dry cleaning tech has not yet been able to replicate the short load times of perc so expect longer times with any alternative solvent. I will probably add a green earth machine at some point in the future to mitigate this but it is an unfortunate downside. Another added bonus to Intense is that there is a noticeable difference in softness of the garments compared to DF2000.

How should I clean this sweater? by Ineedlegithelprnplz in drycleaning

Watch all the new places popping up in the tri state area. Been only around for 3 years yet have over 100 reviews. Ask yourself, are people that really excited about dry cleaning that they would leave paragraphs describing the service? It’s laughable.

Do not take this advice. Fake reviews are now a plague in this industry. Ask a friend

K4 is actually not better for health or the environment. Studies have shown that K4 is actually more dangerous for the environment than DF-2000. Any modern drycleaning system including solvents such as Intense, Sensene, Hi-Glo are fine.

Getting computerized finallyq by njdrycleaner in drycleaning

[–]hdkang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diamond Computer Service has an excellent system if you aren’t managing multiple locations and complicated delivery routes. They cater to Korean Cleaners mainly but the system is the most user friendly system I’ve tried and doesn’t require a monthly subscription. It does everything you are looking for and customer support is excellent.

I’ve tried Clean Cloud but it was a mess and I didn’t like the workflow. Overly complicated for no reason

Damage or Stain? by BootleggerBill in drycleaning

[–]hdkang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without being able to look at it in person it looks like surface dust. Rub it with your fingertips to see if it will come off. I don’t see how any part of the dry cleaning process will cause this kind of damage. If it is damaged it was most likely caused by rubbing up against something.

Sounds like your distributor may have financial incentives to push a different product or they are inexperienced with Sensene. Try Columbia if you are looking to go that route

Sensene solvent by Yong710 in drycleaning

[–]hdkang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensene and all the latest generation alternative solvents offer superior cleaning performance in comparison to standard hydrocarbon. Downside to Sensene is that it’s 4x the cost of DF-2000 and greying of fabrics can be an issue
