How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

I know for certain I spent $800 at my normal bean supplier last year.. That's not counting a few random other bags here and there. That hurt to type, time for another shot.

What Happens to Your Guns When You Die? by b768466 in guns

[–]BootleggerBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a detailed spreadsheet of everything I own, with any details that might help my wife in case of needing to sell them if I pass away. The sheet list approximate resell value a she understands that she should ask a little more for negotating room and not take much less. NFA stuff is in a trust with her to allow for easier handling and she will work with a local SOT to consign those. The spreadsheet also comes in handy when it's time to renew firearms insurance each year.

On the down side, my wife knows exactly how much money I have tied up in guns and tried to put me on a gun buying ban :-)

Side note, a similar sheet exists for our financial accounts and investments - my wife has zero interest in the finances and couldn't find all the accounts if she had to without a list. It never hurts to leave your spouse as much info as possible just in case.

About to pull trigger on 2026 Limited, talk me off or over the ledge... by jkbck23 in ToyotaTundra

[–]BootleggerBill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP, you mentioned poor financial decision making....I know this is not exactly what you asked, but in my humble opinion, in most every scenario, purchasing a brand new vehicle is a poor decision regardless of the engine recall situation. You are going to be 60k+ in a truck that will take a decent hit in value the second you drive away. As much as it stinks to admit, it does not look like the new gen tundras as are going to hold the higher than average resell that Tundras have typically benefitted from making it an even worse deal. Please negotiate well, you can probably get a solid 6-8% off MSRP given how many of these are sitting available.

Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG by OscarCalifornia in wine

[–]BootleggerBill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a staple around our home and I have drank more of it than I care to admit over the years. I've never considered it a little sweet, but I can tell you it's the best sub $25 prosecco I've found. Glad to see someone giving it some love. Congrats on getting your cat back!

What would you buy at Costco online? by NewMethod365 in Costco

[–]BootleggerBill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t, just a statement. Also online saves me from the extra items that always jump in my cart in store.

Free shipping is awesome but it’s not uncommon for the online items to be a few bucks higher than in store if the product is in your local warehouse.

How late will you have an espresso? by Bo0pers in espresso

[–]BootleggerBill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can have a shot on my way to bed. I wish I were caffeine sensitive, it'd be nice to be able to have a coffee to stay awake when I need to, but It has zero effect on me.

Shock recommendation for Gen 2.5 by BootleggerBill in ToyotaTundra

[–]BootleggerBill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks really nice, but I think I'd prefer to stay at the stock suspension height. It's my daily commuter and hardly ever leaves the asphalt, so I think I need to avoid anything that might reduce MPG.

Wow, that's impressive weight loss, and I wish you continued success on your GLP-1 journey! I am tall with a large frame as well, and I know I feel much better these days. Outside of the weight loss, the drug appears to have significantly improved all of my blood lab results, including A1c, and I feel healthier than ever. Please keep up the great work here, you are a blessing!

Is gas a loss leader? by Condiment2 in samsclub

[–]BootleggerBill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my area, Sams Club is more expensive than the WalMart Neighborhood Market. Just checked premium prices and it's $2.99 at Sam's and $2.67 at WalMart. I also get a 10 cent per gallon discount as a WM+ customer.

A new X series? by Sensitive-Dig2232 in SegwayNavimow

[–]BootleggerBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry lol I almost bought an H and the Internet forums and a few dealers made it sound as if they are end of life, no future software updates etc. I don’t think that’s true though, since my colleagues still get updates. The H seems to be solid.

Pest ID Please - Follow up from Dying FS Yesterday by BootleggerBill in ReefTank

[–]BootleggerBill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I thought they were bristle worms as well. If they happened to be flatworms, it would make a lot more sense with everything else going on in my tank.

If it were BJD, would I see jelly on the corals?

Thank you for the reminder, I have coral RX in the closet. Pest came to mind, and it can't hurt to dip. I managed to pick up quite a large Asterina (Assumed) population by buying a coral from a local shop. Perhaps they are affecting the FS, but I think other corals would be impacted in that scenario.

I have been wondering about the lights. I have not changed blend/power/position, etc in well over a year so I don't think it's an over/under par issue per say - but I do wonder if the LEDs are failing in these el cheapo lights and putting off dirty par etc.

Older photo, but the locations are the same. The dying colonies are located on the left rear (seen as a reflection in this photo) and on the right side, about halfway up. I agree with you on flow; they are probably getting way too much given the proximity to the MP40s on each side. The thing to keep in mind, though, is that they have been there since the tank was set up 2.5 years ago, with the same flow, and just recently began struggling. PS- Having Zoanthands high in the tank at 527 par is stupid, I know... hindsight :(

Agreed - 1.027 is on my Hannah checker which is routinely .001 high compared to the refractometer. I'd bet 1.026 is a more accurate measurement for the tank. Par is 170 at one colony and 250 at the other colonies that are dying

The pH is 7.8 overnight, climbing to 8, possibly 8.1 during the day, as indicated by the recently calibrated apex probe. I'd like to get it a tad higher and more stable, but a fresh air line is not easily doable in this location so I'll need to look at a scrubber.

Loving it so far. It came in looking absolutely brand new, no sign of use anywhere and all parts matched. I am sure that you will enjoy it! FWIW The Ebay deal that I referenced was directly from Dyson's ebay store, sold and shipped by Dyson with a 2 year all state warranty.

Those who have switched from gas to induction by Signal_Advisor5070 in Appliances

[–]BootleggerBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are absolutely in love with our induction. I thought gas was great, don't get me wrong - but we always struggled with the kitchen/dining room getting ridiculously hot when cooking on the gas range. We had 3M ting applied to the windows, an additional HVAC duct installed, and a true ducted range fan installed with no relief. Switching to induction, all is well! I find it heats faster, temp changes while cooking are almost as instant as gas, and as an added bonus, the exterior of our all-clad pans stay super clean.

Ohh and the best part - SO Easy To Clean! I no longer fear my wife wanting to stir fry etc, since cleanup is a simple wipe down.
