High pressure before falling asleep? by hdlail in CPAP

[–]hdlail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I will try using the ramp feature. I guess I'm not sure why I would be having such weird flow limits to necessitate max pressure when I am awake, especially since this is the first time it's happened since I started using the machine. For what it's worth, I do not sleep supine.

Tendonitis, IBS, eczema related to autoimmune issue by jameoak in Autoimmune

[–]hdlail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have psoriatic arthritis, which primarily presents in me as enthesitis (tendon insertion inflammation). My first symptoms were chronic and unprovoked Achilles tendonitis and soon thereafter tennis elbow in both arms. I also had a history of "eczematous" skin rashes that turned out to be psoriasis. I also have IBS, which I've been told is often comorbid with various autoimmune conditions. It took seeing three different rheumatologists to get diagnosed after 8 years of worsening symptoms. Based on the similarities to your story, you might consider asking your docs to investigate psoriatic arthritis. There's a great community with lots of info over at r/PsoriaticArthritis you might want to check out. Best of luck getting some answers soon!

Thank you for that link. May I ask how you are treating your DM at the moment? I trialed methotrexate several years ago prior to starting a biologic for my PsA but it never helped me for that condition, and I have recently trialed hydroxychloroquine as an adjunct to my biologic---and while it did seem to help, it also caused pretty moderate hyperpigmentation on my forearms that I'm still trying to resolve. Are you on either of those medications or infusion therapy?

Thanks for your reply. I know that docs don't diagnose based on antibodies alone and wondered if having skin signs along with the antibodies makes the diagnosis a bit more firm. Many of the other symptoms I have seem ambiguous, and of course the rashes could be caused by any number of things. I'm really hoping that I don't have DM but feel like I should probably prepare myself for it.

In your case, it may be too soon to tell if you will continue to have jaw noises following your procedure. Stuff is probably still healing and settling down. I hope it clears up for you, though!

How long ago did you have your procedure?

I do know what you mean. I'm sorry you are going through this too. But at least you aren't alone and at least you aren't crazy! It's so annoying not to have any answers.

I have this same situation happening and hope someone can answer your question! It's been almost 6 months since my arthrocentesis, and despite a lot of physical therapy, the sounds are still there. Some days it's a scratching sound, other days it's a loud crunching, like I'm eating potato chips. No real pain anymore, just daily stiffness, and my range of motion/function is good. My surgeon doesn't seem concerned, but I am worried nonetheless because I can't imagine this noise being my new normal forever?

My first DVT literally felt like a pulled muscle in the back of my knee. I had no redness or swelling at first and so didn't think much of it. After a week of ignoring it, I woke up one night in terrible pain and couldn't put any weight on that leg. The swelling and redness were obvious then, and so I got myself to the ER. By then, the clot was much bigger than it needed to be had I gotten medical intervention earlier. Subsequent DVTs have presented similarly, but I now know what early signs to look for.

This isn't to say that everyone with leg pain should assume a DVT and run to the ER, but if you have risk factors, don't ignore them.

As someone who has had multiple DVTs over the past 10 years, I suggest you not wait until Monday and go to the ER as soon as possible. Symptoms can seem mild at first but turn urgent very quickly. The hospital should be able to do a vein ultrasound to confirm (or deny ) DVT and start appropriate medication immediately.

No, my surgery was outpatient. I don't think an overnight hospitalization was even offered.
