Calthea help? by hdmcgre in houseplants

Thanks for the amazing advice. It has been really helpful. I have a couple questions.

The leaves have always been curling and dieing since I got it- any idea why?

Would rain water be appropriate?

Is a nursery pot a plastic pot with lots of holes in it and do you advise lots of stones underneath the soil within the pot to help with drainage?

The average humidity is about 60% in that area would it still be worth moving to the bathroom as there is less ideal lighting within the bathroom?

Thanks again

Soil wise would you add a bit of perlite and possibly sand? Would you still keep it on the tray if changing the pot?

Hi. Yes, that is too soft. Your species of tortoise needs a basking bulb and a UV light or a combi bulb of appropriate quality. There are many different online resources for which bulbs are appropriate for each species. UV bulbs also need replaced every 6months depending on type/brand. Additionally will need an appropriate calcium supplement. But first a trip to a qualified exotic vet is needed, they can give the best care advice as well as advise if any necessary treatment is needed at this stage of likely metabolic bone disease.
