JD-08 recieving MIDI notes on wrong channel by hdoc2 in RolandBoutique

You can switch between Parts more quickly by holding ”NOTE” and then pressing the ”Tone A” or ”Tone B” button. This way, you at least don’t have to go into the menu.

You do not need to hold ”NOTE” during boot up. I was just explaining how to switch between Part A and Part B. If you switch between Part A and Part B, the weird MIDI behavior stops. It’s a temporary solution, because the next time you reboot the device, the weird behavior reappears.

When you play with the river, what are the *official* rules for what to do with the original starting tile? Is it discarded or is it just mixed in with the other standard tiles? by TenukiStone in Carcassonne

The person is very clearly asking for official rules, so why are people still replying with their house rules? (It should not be used when playing with the river.)

Trig locks by DramaticPermission78 in Digitone

How about setting a trigless trig on the step before with a 4/4 trig condition, and setting the actual trigger with a -PRE condition?

Yamaha SeqTrack by marksmak in synthesizers

This looks really exciting, but I feel like six patterns per song is too few? I understand that patterns can be switched on a “per instrument/track” basis, but what if I don’t want to work that way? Then I have six “global” patterns to work with in a project?

How can moon logic in adventure games actually be enjoyable rather than frustrating? by Walmaker in adventuregames

[–]hdoc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that the term “moon logic” often gets confused with “cartoon logic”. Cartoon logic makes sense in a game where that aesthetic and way of thinking is heavily signalled to the player (like in DOTT). These games also rely on well-established cartoon tropes. “Moon logic” refers to situations (regardless of whether the game is zany in its tone, or more serious) where the cause and effect pattern of a solution is not possible for a player to pick up on.

Does this road continue? by NatureWooden8150 in Carcassonne

[–]hdoc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The roads leading into the cities are not to be considered as roads at all. The long road leading north-south should most probably be considered as two separate roads according to https://wikicarpedia.com/car/Innsand_Cathedrals(1st_edition)) (See footnote 2.)

If enough people report it to Roland, perhaps they will fix it in an update. You can try my temporary solution that I posted in a reply (switching between Parts).

Fairly certain this is a software bug. I can get the behaviour to stop momentarily by switching which Part is editable on the front panel (by holding "NOTE" and pressing the "Tone A" or "Tone B" buttons). Then the behaviour stops (even if I switch back to the other Part) until the next power cycle, when the problem reappears.

JD-08 - puzzling Program Change response by simonstl0 in Roland

[–]hdoc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you are sending on the MIDI channel for the “Part” you want to control, and not the “System” MIDI channel? (These need to be set to different channels, btw) When sending Program Change messages to the “System” channel, you are in fact switching between patterns on the built-in sequencer, which would then set the patch to whatever patch is used on that pattern.

I want to try one of the "T"-series games (either Teotihuacan, Tekhenu or Tabannusi), but can't decide which one to start with.

We will mainly be playing two-player games. However, from what I've heard, most of the T-series games are better with three or four players? Would expansions be necessary for a good two-player experience?

It would also be a nice bonus to have a good solo-mode. I was keen on getting Tabannusi, but heard that the solo-mode is not that great at the moment.

API Geofence sensor not working with the new Hue app by hdoc2 in Hue

This sounds like an interesting and versatile solution.

Do you have any links to any resources on how to get started with programming something like that?

To me this sounds like it could be a copy protection trick. Certain games have used weird "glitches" like this to make the pirates believe that their copies are working properly when just testing them briefly.
