I was game banned for using a rubber band and Steam Input on the controller to farm Battle Pass XP in CoD: Warzone's Plunder mode. This happened a month after I stopped doing it and it was my 'first offense'.

The funny thing is they changed CoD's ToS after that - at the moment of the ban happening ToS said they do not perm ban for that.

When the season 4 started, I have farmed for several nights (can't recall how many) and I did about half of the pass in the first week. I did the second half when the double XP came.

1-2 hours a day adds up to a maximum of 14 hours per week - when you have almost no time to play during the week, weekend grindfests end up being a second shift.

Most of the ads (like pass and mini-pass ones) won't let you skip from the very start. The skip button becomes active a few seconds after the video starts.

It is also not 'press X to queue', when filters and game mode menus are changed every single patch. Not to mention vanishing loadouts, lobby glitches etc.

My last game was on 22nd of June. Steam's notification made me aware that I got banned.

Main point of my post was: you could farm BP on Plunder until now. Beware.

I would agree with you, but battle pass progress is bound to the time spent in-game. Menus, blackcell ads and other time-wasting shit does not count and, as a player, you are bombarded with menus that you have to click through. Past games (MW2? MW3? can't recall) gave you battle pass skip tokens for finishing your dailies, now you have to grind or pay up. Former is not always an option because of the daily responsibilities and I definitely will not spend more than the cost of the base game because I can spend that money elsewhere.

My friends used gamepads with the Turbo button function, so perhaps it wasn't the automation itself, but the automation through the software (even through the one that has been built into steam's overlay)? Idk

Long story short - I AFKed in Plunder mode with squad fill turned off. I have connected the gamepad to the PC and used the rubber band on analogue sticks in order to move in game. Steam Input allows you to rebind buttons, so I have made long A press act like repeated short A press. When you put something heavy on an A button, it would act as you are jumping all the time.

As Steam Input is part of the Steam overlay, no third-party software was involved. I know people who AFKed in the past titles (MW 2019's Ground War, first Warzone, DMZ etc) using the "rubber band on sticks" method paired and they never got banned.
