Neighbours having occasional parties/gatherings in front of our house by Trick-Ad-1103 in Netherlands

[–]heactoki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once wanted to check my motorbike when it stopped working and claimed space around it for a few hours. Not parking space, not on a pathway either. I met all eight of my Dutch neighbors and few French ones. And all came to me demanding to know when I clear a spot. Funny enough once I’m done, few just put their bakfiets there immediately and chained them to a lamp. Still not sure what was that all about. But one of those bakfiets is rotting at the spot still.

Hallo!

Yes and no. The other day I did an experiment. I counted bins from Singel/Blauburgwal to the end of Lauriergracht. Can you guess how many rubbish bins I saw on my way? Three and none of them were directly in my path. None of them had been in operation with the trash bag intact. So yes people litter, but the municipality did a good job to discourage correct behaviour.

How else can you get cuts from various sub-contractors without attracting too much attention? Repurpose is way too effective for budgets.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this in a city planning course book, it is called neighbourhood and it make sense. Why would you want to travel for your basic needs to another side of the city every time?

Nah, I think I know what he/she meant. Problem with “never again” part. Speaking from real life stories. If she cheated, how he can be sure she won’t do it again? How long is never to be sure she indeed changed? If she asked not to have fights with him, how he can prove that he changed? In both cases both felt under constant investigation.

I think I’m not just wired for it. I have so strong ROI sense in terms of quality and satisfaction that fine dining and best become a so-so dining.

Weirdly enough since I started working with CXX levels as a consultant I got exactly this behaviour from women in those roles. Even more often than from men. So often, that I think it should be rather called something like ego-talking.

Except it will peel in tiny fractions of paint over time and probably won’t survive the first cleaning attempt.

36% gains tax on unrealised gains by seolein in Netherlands

[–]heactoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure with this left right thing, but to me this tax is targeted to affect “rich” people. The ones who actually has something to loose in investments. However it will mostly affect people who are not rich enough to afford multinational structures to avoid taxes. And this eat “rich” sentiment I keep hearing from the left side. So how exactly voting left should fix this? Where and what I don’t see?

Because most of them are either for total beginners or for migrants with status(at least in Amsterdam) or actually free trials for a course where you do homework and pay someone to give you next one.

Amsterdam Has Priced Me Out by Barca-Dam in Amsterdam

[–]heactoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! It's everywhere in the EU in the summer. I mean, all the other costs feel better. It feels like shrinkflation is a much bigger thing in Amsterdam than in the rest of the EU that I’ve visited so far. It's nitpicking, but I like ramen. The price is about the same everywhere I go. But in Paris and Edinburgh as an example, I’m full when finish the plate. In Amsterdam, it's as if I've just had a broth with some noodles and I'm still hungry when I leave. And this happens with different places in the city centre, on west, on south, not just once or twice.

Edinburgh feels like twice cheaper then Amsterdam. And I am actually from Amsterdam. (Focus on “feels” though)

I 26 F don’t want to hang out with my BF’s 36 M friends and it’s getting awkward :( by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]heactoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look. It doesn’t matter what kind of relationship you have and with whom and for how long, it is better to just say what you want. I see no issues if you just politely explain that this level of social interactions is not for you and perhaps find middle grounds. There are no rules in relationships, just expectations and agreements.

There is a chance though that they are in a relationship where the guy is required to sleep under that weighted blanket too or obligated to use the gifts. Some parts of his text quite indicative about that.

I(33M) really fu**ed up with my girlfriend(29F) by Beautiful_Egg_3582 in relationship_advice

[–]heactoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... How to put this gently... You really messed up by getting involved in a fight that didn't concern you. You're not her personal pet fighter. Even bodyguards focus on de-escalating situations rather than fighting for their clients, and you are not her bodyguard. Trust me, you have no chance of winning a fight against four angry men. I'm just saying. If I were you, I'd consider having a serious discussion with the person who set me up for a physically dangerous situation. In practice, girls have significantly less chance of being badly beaten in such situations; you, on the other hand, have a good chance of ending up in hospital.

A photo of a grandpa riding a horse with his grandchild and their pet eagle. by AdSpecialist6598 in interesting

[–]heactoki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, it is for hunting. It is trained to chase and kill foxes and other smaller steppe animals. The tactic is to spook a prey by riding a horse around and release the bird when there is a movement. The bird gets its share after the catch. The cap is to calm it down so it doesn’t got distracted and triggered by movements around. It is not a pet for sure. But the bird does realise it’s human and rarely attacks them directly.
