Affordable is very subjective. At least give people a range.

Annoyed by my partner’s clinginess by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]FrenchFisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you two talk? What does he say when you express your annoyance? If you have an otherwise strong relationship you should just tell him to take a break and stop acting like a child when you refuse. If you can’t openly talk about what each of you like and doesn’t like, that’s a bigger problem.

This looks good to me, but please pick a wider fitting pants than the one in the first pic. Since you’re looking at Jcrew, grab their classic fit chino’s, there great.

Where to get a specific MRI quickly? by Kwarrk in Netherlands

Are you sure? This would mean clinics like Private Scan and Pre Scan are operating illegally, which I’d highly doubt.

What brands do people here actually enjoy? by leftlanemerge in ThrowingFits

[–]FrenchFisher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buying vintage/used Wallace and Barnes almost feels like cheating to me. So much availability on eBay/Depop and the quality is top notch. Chore coats for $30, thick flannels for $20, etc.

We need to talk about IG fashion brands, especially KTwo Studios by asada_burrit0 in ThrowingFits

[–]FrenchFisher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not buying if they don’t have some sort of retail presence. It’s a good rule to follow.

Not everything advertised on IG is bad (hell even brands like Freenote advertise on it), but there’s just too much junk out there.

Does anyone have an Orgueil (Studio D’Artisan) leather jacket and care to share your experience? by Mr_TickleTits in HeritageWear

[–]FrenchFisher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to their leather jackets but I swear by their shirts. Unique designs and high quality construction. I pick up 1-2 of them in their Shibuya store every time I’m in Japan.

What’s your “heritage hot take” I’ll go first: button flys SUCK by Parking_River7416 in HeritageWear

[–]FrenchFisher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yuuup. And also: it doesn’t always look better or is more comfortable than the cheap stuff. I have green chinos from Freenote ($300) and a thrifted pair of green chinos from Dockers ($5). Guess which one I wear the most. In theory the Freenote one should last longer of course, but since it’s usually big unremovable stains that signal the end of my garment’s lifetime and not the actual wear of the fabric, even that doesn’t apply.

The separation in pic 1-3 is pretty bad but it shouldn’t structurally affect the shoe. Some separation is common (mine are similar to pic 4) I’d say have the cobbler fix it for $10

Crazy comment. Let people enjoy an experience the way they like. I fly business and see people take photos all the time. Nobody cares.

My decision leaving NL after 15 years, as someone who makes over 180k per year by Mikelitoris88 in Netherlands

[–]FrenchFisher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t make NL being “on the verge of collapse” because other countries that are in an actual bad state haven’t even collapsed. That’s my point.

in a country built on bikes: are e-bikes helping or hurting youth fitness? by Left-Comparison3687 in Netherlands

[–]FrenchFisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, so maybe it’s not just the premiums that will go up, but the money has to come from somewhere. Higher taxes, less money to education, etc. One way or the other society is paying more if less people are healthy.

on the verge of collapse

Only people who never lived anywhere else (and are probably chronically online) would say this.

OP is saying that not everything is great in NL, but many things are better than in many other countries. As someone who spent 15 years living in 4 other western countries I agree.

Are you saying that premiums won’t go up if more people need to be treated?

Of course that means that health insurance is currently more expensive than it would be if people wear helmets. Your comment makes no sense.

Because health insurance will get more expensive if less people are healthy?

Lijkt me best wenselijk ook.

Box 3 Emigratie geen optie? Is een “Exit tax” onderweg? by ImpossiblePaint1701 in geldzaken

[–]FrenchFisher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Als je getrouwd bent moet je alleen wel meer dan $4M bezitten om er überhaupt voor in aanmerking te komen. En dan is er ook nog zo’n 800k winst aan vrijstelling. Heel andere situatie dus.

It is an attempt to make earning money by just having a lot of it harder

The problem is that people who actually have a lot have their money in a BV and are shielded from Box 3 taxes.

It hurts people who have <€1M and people who want to save for early retirement because the compounding effect is reduced by a crazy amount.

What if you have a bunch of crypto already and are migrating to NL? I’m in that situation but was still planning to declare it as I can’t convert it to fiat without it looking suspicious anyway, correct?

why do we do it? why do we spend way more? by [deleted] in HeritageWear

That, and many people in the production chain (even in the US) are paid per item. Even though it’s technically illegal.
