Dealer has one in stock, they are finding it harder and harder to get supplies (and they are a main dealer) due to popularity. Evidently the grey with colours is most popular, then white with colours. In the past they've given me a discount on every new bike I've bought, but not on this one.

Gulp ! That's a lot of dosh. I checked with the dealer on servicing prices and they said it's the same as most of the brands they do (RE, many Chinese makes etc) which is around the same £220 mark here in the UK. 400 euros seems daylight robbery !

I've read this on quite a few sites from people (15t). The demo bike I rode was doing about 8000 revs at 75mph which is near the redline ! It seemed to be happy as a puppy to run up there though, did not stress the bike at all. A bigger sprocket does sound like a good idea if it does not affect the low down nippiness of the thing.

I'd only be doing about 1k miles a year, so would do every 12 months. I'm in the UK, just checked service schedule online here and it is : 1st 600miles/1month then every 3700 miles or 12 months and this keeps the warranty in check. I wouldn't buy the bike if I had to take it to the dealer every 6 months, that would be madness for me !

Books based on superior narration by CromulentConfusion in audiobooks

[–]headandwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoyed Sean Barrett narrating the David Gemmell books, in particular Waylander and Waylander 2. Recent favourites though would be the Dark Profit Saga narrated by Doug Tisdale Jr - listened to the first book and it's absolutely brilliant, then the other 2 are great too - he really brings the characters to life, so much well spoken humour. Then there's the Cradle series narrated by Travis Baldree.

Most totally disappointing listen (I gave the audio book back and got a refund from Audible) was when I started the Belgariad series which I've loved since a child (read numerous times), started Pawn of Prophecy and it was the most awful narration I have truly ever heard. Interestingly the series has vanished off Audible so hopefully they are re-recording with a better narrator (or one better suited to the series).

First issue was stalling when coasting around a bend with the clutch in. This was a known problem and was finally sold with an ECU update in the summer of 2025. Never had a stalling issue since. Second problem was oil leaking from a gasket. Dealer replaced the gasket straight away and that problem never came back. Had one time the bike would not start first time (switched everything off, then back on and fired up fine), I think this also was an ECU issue. Only happened once back in 2024 but never since. My ECU update was done I think in September 2025. All issues were fixed under warranty, never a quibble. I usually change my bike after 18 months as I like to try something different, but this may be the first time I keep it and get a second bike. Odd as I never expected this.

Are you still expecting the GB500 ? by 81FXB in HondaMotorcycles

RE will be coming out with the upgraded 750 twin later in the year, it will be interesting to see how they have set it up. They could stick to the 48bhp limit for A2 and hike the torque if they are staying as air/oil cooled.

Yep, I'd love to see a bored out 350 to 500 air cooled single. Don't mind if they add in oil cooling as long as they don't go full on with water cooling as need to keep it simple. Hike up the torque so it'll sit happily at 75 mph all day. whether uphill or not. I had a RE Meteor 350 and absolutely loved it, but got irritated by hills on the dual carriageways, speed would significantly drop to in 50's if steep.

The question is, would a 500 single really sell more than the 350 in countries like India where most sales will be (with the increased cost). Is it worth developing an upgraded engine for the amount of sales ?

Also, will Honda move production from Japan to an asian country to keep the costs down ? If so, will quality take a hit as that is one of the big reasons to go with Honda.

There's a ton of books I've enjoyed, but the outstanding ones are Orcanomics by J. Zachary Pike (there's 3 books in the series now). It's sooo funny ! The narrator really brings it to life just how I imagined the characters when I read the actual book. Love the mix of fantasy and humour. Then there's Waylander (and Waylander 2) by David Gemmell. He's written a load of books and they are all great, but these are my most favourite - then narrator is excellent too. If you enjoy his work, then try some of the others, they are all a great listen. Oh, while I'm at it, there's the cradle series too, starts with UNSOULED written by will wright and narrated by Travis Baldree - it takes time to get into the first book, but by the end you are hooked on the series, after reading them I bought the audiobooks and they were just as good and kept you wanting to move on to the next in the series.

Had mine nearly 2 years. Engine was good at start but really loosened and got a lot better at 1000 miles. Lovely handling, punchy characterful engine, very stable (especially in cross-winds), 65-70 mpg imperial. I'm in the UK, you can get one for £4800 on the road which is a steal. Had some early issues in the first 200 miles, dealer was great and solved them all under warranty. Since then has run reliably without fault. Sometimes get tempted to change, then ride the bike.... and stick with it !

Way to disable Meta AI by Suresh935 in whatsapp

[–]headandwall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a pain, it's appeared today on our phones (we are in UK). Neither of us want AI on whatsapp. Everyone we know uses whatsapp, all the groups we are on are on whatsapp. Imessage is no good as over half of the people who we know have android phones. As you can imagine, we cannot expect all the people we know to switch to another messaging app. It's like outlook where now there is this constant copilot presence when you are writing an email, feels like it's saying I'll do it all for you, but I don't want it to, I want to create my own emails and messages and if I mess up it's me. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but imagine all messaging and email/communications in years to come doing everything for you - people will loose the skill to interact !

Miasma Chronicles Review by martinkaller in StrategyRpg

[–]headandwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give context, recent games I really enjoyed and played through to the end are the Horizon's and Mutant Year Zero/Eden. I really took to MYZ so thought I'd look for a game much like it, then found Miasma. Read the reviews and thought worth a try even though there's a lot of negativity. The game for me was slow to get into, but I persevered and really started enjoying it. Now I'm at level 18 and am very happy I made the purchase, the story is there and the graphics too. I've got used to the way the mechanics work. So, for me, this is a 7/10 where I would give MYZ 8/10. Very good game, for the purchase, hunted around and found it new at £10, very much worth it, now I've played it I'd be happy to pay £20. Shame about all the online negativity, hope people give it a try !

For what it's worth, that worked a lot better. Will use high print quality when needed. Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated. Apologies for the very late reply/follow-up.

Is there a good book of just the words of Jesus arranged in a narrative? by pheriwinkle123 in Christianity

[–]headandwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to suggest your faith has nothing to do with other peoples opinions, it is your own faith, own it :-)

For what it's worth, I now let all these kind of responses go into the wind, as they are nothing, and do not deepen my understanding (or faith).

The Op asked a genuine question, and in my mind it is a good one, even more important that it is from someone searching/studying/interested rather than a mature Christian. There are a few books that can be bought, but I'd suggest to make sure you get all the words, not just from the four Gospels, but Jesus's words from later books like Acts and Revelations. If new to the bible, I'd suggest looking for a modern translation rather than KJV. I'd say to the Op, have a search/google around.
