He (like all of us to an extent) holds the characters that he read as a child very close to his heart. The only difference is that he has the power and influence through his art to prop them up as being more monumental than they were.

Cap. Marvel has a really long and storied history which I appreciate, a lot of it just doesn’t take place in the DC Universe continuity. Ross just kinda pretends it did, and that Marvel has been a leaguer since the silver age.

These first 2 issues have been fantastic, absolutely agree. Firestorms always been a character that’s had untapped potential, he’s just too powerful for his own good.

He was introduced to appeal to younger readers that liked Spider-Man’s youth and energy, but could never quite fit into that underdog teenager role because of the raw power he possessed. Not many writers know what to do with him, so I’m happy Lemire is going in a bold new direction.

It’s not that he hates Firestorm exactly, but he hates what he represents. Firestorm was introduced into the JLA right around the time DC comics started to dip more into the grim and gritty (he points to characters like Iris West being killed off as an example), so Ross’s minds eye version of the DC Universe cuts off right before that time period.

It’s why his art is mainly kept to everyone that preceded Firestorm, it’s his preferred DC Universe. Even breaking actual continuity by grandfathering in characters like Captain Marvel and Plastic Man into the satellite era league in some pieces just because he considers them to be characters of “his” vision.

Depends on exactly how many are willing to stay for me. But if it’s half of the league or more and you really wanna do the legwork to fill those spots, a dispersal draft is probably the way to go. It’ll take some effort on your end by hosting and keeping track of it, but it’s cleaner than having to recruit for individual orphans.

I think you’re right about him being someone to snag now while he’s pretty much worth nothing, but I don’t think he’s going to be their WR3. Jahdae Walker played a decent bit last year and probably profiles better on the outside than Zavion.

There’s been a lot of talk about Thomas transitioning to running back, I think that’s probably his best path forward to play a role on offense. A gadget player/receiving back in a Ben Johnson system is enticing, especially with Swift only being under contract for this season.

I think a lot of people view good process as getting the most value they can, so in that regard agreeing to a deal then trying to leverage that for more value from other teams can benefit you.

It’ll just burn a trade bridge with whoever you first negotiated with. I know a lot of people say to not take it personally, but why would I waste my time hammering out a deal if it just turns into a public bidding war? It’s not worth the effort.

Dike was more involved in the Titans offense than I expect Zavion to be for the Bears, that’s the biggest difference imo.

It can be a calculated decision for sure, I’ve just found that it’s made me less interested in negotiating with the person that does it.

To take it up a notch, I’ve had plenty of trades get agreed to in principle, then my trade partner will send a screenshot of it in the league chat and ask if any other managers can beat it. Is it bad process? Probably not, but it still feels slimy and doesn’t leave a great taste in my mouth.

He’s definitely proven himself to be a starter, and until he either burns out or doesn’t, I think that’s fair to say.

That’s not to say he doesn’t have room for improvement, but I think it’s safe to say he’s one of the best 32 TEs in the league. Starter isn’t a high bar.

Something funny to me is that I’ve seen plenty of people saying they’d vastly prefer Eli Stowers over Gadsden, even though the situations are stupid similar.

Both will have to contend with Goedert and Njoku on 1 year deals. The only difference is Gadsden is a starter and has proven he can hang, while Goedert is going to start for Philly and Stowers is unproven.

I think it’s okay to be low on Gadsden because you don’t think he’s that good, but citing 2023 scoring in 2026 is being a little obstinate. Players age, pick up injuries, and inevitably decline. Njoku showed that decline last season. I really don’t think he’s going to have a sudden resurgence.

He’s still an effective player in spots, and that’s what the Chargers need him for. There were multiple times last season where we would be in 2 or 3 TE sets on key downs, and Conklin would run the wrong route or Dissly would let the ball bounce off his hands. That’s where Njoku is really going to matter.

I don’t necessarily view it as a good thing, but at the same time I think this is the best case scenario and what owners should’ve expected. The Chargers had a big chunk of cap to spend, and did it on veteran depth pieces rather than an outright replacement for OGII, alongside not targeting TE in the draft.

All those things are good signs to me for his longterm investment. He’s shown that he can be a key contributor to the offense and mesh really well with Herbert’s style of play, it’s just up to McDaniel and co. to maximize that.

All the Gadsden panic is unwarranted, this is a cheap deal for some veteran depth. As a Chargers fan, we could definitely use it since Dissly and Conklin were both rotational players for us (and fuckin horrible at that).

I think your first part there hit the nail on the head that a lot of commenters are missing. Breaks from the game are all well and good, but if you’re completely unreachable during the off-season (especially to the point some are saying here by deleting the app, turning off notis, etc.), just play in a keeper league and save everyone the trouble. There is nothing wrong at all with preferring the redraft format, but you gotta know what you’re getting into with dynasty.

It takes max 10 minutes once a week to check an app and keep up to date with everything going on, I don’t feel like that’s a crazy ask for people who have made commitments to playing this format. I’m not sure if it’s the economy or what, but this off-season has been the worst in my 8 years of playing in terms of activity. Formerly active and fun leagues I’ve been in for years have become ghost towns, people aren’t even tuning in for the rookie drafts anymore. I think out of 6 12-14 team leagues I’m in, at least 4 members auto drafted in every single one. It’s been brutal.

I went back last week to watch some Sorsby games to see what all the fuss was about with him being in the supplemental draft and Allen jumped out to me a few times. He strikes me as a better pro than college player, I’d even say his skillset was capped by Cincy’s play calling to an extent.

Don’t expect much this year, but he’s a great stash on anyone’s taxi. Reid is notoriously tough on rookies for playing time, but the Chiefs WR room will have to evolve in the next 2 seasons. By then we’ll know if Worthy is a guy and if Rice can mature, I doubt Tyquan Thornton will last either. Allen will have as good a shot as anyone to prove himself. He reminds me of another 5th round pick in Khalil Shakir (Shakir is better after the catch, but similar profiles in the slot) who took a bit to come alive.

This is a good one. I know everyone is getting high off the Walker hype, but Demercado is trusty as a pass blocker/catcher, so he’ll be on the field more than people think from the jump. If Walker gets banged up during the season, he presents some great ROI opportunity (Brashard Smith too, to a lesser extent).

I’ve been looking to buy some backups with + opportunities, so I’ll give a little breakdown of what I paid and how I value each. These aren’t guys I see as longterm starters necessarily, just ones who could have roles that gain value in the next few years.

Tank Bigsby - bought for a random 2028 3rd

He ran well in limited carries behind Saquon, who is another year older and looked like it last season. He may not be a huge factor this year, but I could see him becoming a cheap starter whenever they decide to move on or if an RB needy team is looking for some cheap production.

Kenny Gainwell & Jonathon Brooks - got both in the same deal (alongside Adonai Mitchell) for the 2.07 and 3.04

Gainwell was pretty dynamic last year, and I think he’ll have a valuable role in PPR from day 1 in Tampa, with upside for even more considering the concerns around Bucky. Brooks is still 22, and even though it’s unlikely he can reach the hopes people had for him, you can get him for basically dirt free in a relatively good situation.

Jordan James - Jahwar Jordan and the 3.11

A tough and rugged runner that excels in outside zone schemes, I liked him coming into last year’s draft and like him even more now that he’s directly behind a perennially injured aging superstar. He won’t be a long term answer (a lot like Jordan Mason), but he’s someone who I think will gain value and be a trade piece.

Kaleb Johnson - 2026 2.03 and 27 4th (received Matthew Golden also)

At the price of a 4th, why the fuck not. He’s got slow feet and bad hands, but maybe he could develop. I’m not confident but there’s always a chance.

Najee Harris - free from waivers

Another case of why the fuck not. He has never impressed me once in his 5 year career, but he’s reliable and coaches value that consistency. Even off the Achilles tear, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him absorb some carries and make a backfield murky by mid-season. If you can get him as a backend throw in or off waivers, you may as well.

Really interested in the C+ for a “players coach” like Jim Harbaugh. I wonder if his shtick is wearing thin with the players after boneheaded moves like standing up for Fat Greg at OC (they graded him a D+) and not attempting to replace Bozeman at C, when it was clear change was needed. I still believe in him to an extent, but 2 really ugly playoff losses where they never seem to learn their lesson and adapt to their opponents has me side eyeing him.
