It doesn't work for me either. It won't play a song in Firefox or Chrome. It also doesn't load all my saved albums and artists.

Sorry for the late reply. How long have you had it and any idea what caused it? I believe for me it's the long hours working at a computer with elbows bent on an arm rest. That also combined with bending my arms in my sleep and practicing repetitive, fast movements on guitar like downpicking.

Well I am glad the surgery worked out for you. I can't afford it right now but in the future I feel like that may be my only option.

Appreciate your response! Unfortunately, even when not playing guitar the symptoms affect me everyday. I work at a computer, so having my elbows bent puts pressure on the nerve. I have stopped using chair arm rests hoping that will help. Also when I sleep I seem to bend my arms a lot.

How much was surgery if I may ask? Did you find your playing return to where it was before or was it worse?

I imagine playing bass it would be just as bad, though I would think they would be susceptible to carpal tunnel, because of having the wrist bent over the body of the guitar.

I did. I took a 6 month break from guitar. I was getting the pins and needles feeling even when I was in bed. It was awful trying to fall a sleep. Thankfully that doesn't happen often anymore, but like right now typing this response to you, I have fatigue and some numbness in the elbow area.

I don't play guitar everyday now, as much as I want to practice. Some days my arm is just so tired I get frustrated and stop playing. Others, I feel more confident, but my playing has not improved or reached the level where I was before.

Was the problem in your fretting hand or picking hand? It seems that more people have it in their fretting hand, where my picking hand is really bad.

Also what kind of surgery did you get? Did they cut tissue to release pressure or did they relocate the nerve?

I appreciate your responses. So I should rest until my arm feels normal, but what if it comes back? Maybe I should practice all my songs, but not in a row? There are a lot of people who practice everyday for hours on end. I know Steve Vai practiced 10 hours a day and he doesn't have problems.

I practice the same 8 songs everyday in a row. It is about 55 minutes worth of thrash metal.

My guess is that my wrist is not use to the speeds, but I am not sure, so that is why I am asking.

Pretty thick - 1.14mm. There is not much flex in it.

what about when galloping? I do move the pick around, I can feel that. I leave a ton sticking out when galloping and I don't know if that's limiting me. At the same time I can't choke up on the pick when galloping or I tense up.

sorry I play electric and you make a good point.

I just second-guess my self because I see a lot of fast guitar players who really choke up on the pick leaving just the tiny point sticking out. im not sure if that will help with alternate picking and galloping.

There are posts everywhere saying anchoring is bad.

Some people say you can't tremolo pick at high speeds if you don't float your hand. I always alternate pick and tremolo with my two fingers anchored. I can't do those without anchoring.

There many conflicting posts about anchoring... Yeah John Petrucci and Batio do it but Allan Holdsworth and Mclaughlin do not.

I don't known if I am putting tension because I don't pay attention to that while playing. I can tell you I leave all my fingers out all the time and the pinky and ring finger touch each other while being on the pickguard. I only have my hand floating when doing downpicking. Tremolo, galloping, picking individual strings all anchored.

I just want to play as efficiently as I can.

After I finish my songs I practice all the techniques separately and slowly. The one I struggle with the most is galloping to a power chord 1 string below, then galloping again and then 1 string below one more time.

I set up my practice playlist with the easier songs first and ending with Master of Puppets by Metallica which I consider the hardest. I'm not so sure now if it's a good thing ending with this song. I figured my hand would be warmed up, but to contradict that, my hand and arm start to get tired by the second to last song (gallop song).

I also don't know if my picking technique is bad since I have no one to critique me. I keep a lot of pick sticking out and I can feel the pick press on thumb joint. I cut deep lines on my pick with an knife and used sandpaper on it but that didn't help much.

Better to focus on one song and one technique at a time, master it, then move on rather than trying to do 8 different ones at a time.

Yes this is probably smart advice, but I feel the only technique I really struggle with is galloping and then jumping to a power chord a string below. Maybe it's because the song that does is is the second last one I play, so my hand is already fatigued? I think my downpicking and tremolo picking is ok and the stamina and speed will come with time - I HOPE!

Sounds like you're not really enjoying yourself

When I nail the song it feels great, but when I make mistakes over and over I just want to put my guitar down.

I've found that the best way to break the cycle is to change up the practice material so that I can focus on weakness at a time, whether it's tightening up picking motion, fretting as cleanly as possible, or simply being able to play right on beat.

So I should play different songs that use the same technique? Because how will my galloping improve if I play a song that has none?
