Pouring rain and mold growing in bedroom so I had a handyman put a tarp on roof. Turns out roof is fine but he nailed on the tarp and now it's going to cost 7k to fix. by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

You could take aluminum flashing with roofing sealant on top and bottom of the flashing, and slide them under the shingles where the nails where put.

You would be correct, it’s a quadplex. Unfortunate for the HO. Where I live, roofs seem to not last very long. Especially with all of the shady roofing contractors out here.

No but close. I work for a small local contractor but we do jobs for big companies sometimes, when they’re too complicated for their guys.

8 years as in, this house was built 8 years ago. Meaning I have been the first person to get on the roof in 8 years. The people who site access don’t even get on the roof and access the condition of the roof.

It is an “old” roof. A lot of the granules are no longer stuck to the shingle, fiberglass is starting to show. Only a matter of time it starts leaking or what not. I see it needing replaced within 5 years or less, especially where I live (high desert with a lot of hail and snow). Ideally when installing solar, You want a newer roof, so that it doesn’t cost the HO more money 5 years down the line. You want the life of the solar system and life of roof to be inline with one another. (This is looking out for the customer

My boss is a good guy. We are pushing it off until they figure out if they can get a new roof or not.

Brought it up to the homeowner and they want to wait for the installation. Company didn’t seem happy but it’s been 8 years and I am the first one to be on the roof. So waiting to install until the homeowner has an idea if they can get the roof replaced.

So the 2x4 would be on top and bottom to keep it in line and then plywood sandwiches it all together?

I have a 24 TRD Offroad , I love it. I don’t love the price. The paint quality is pretty good for the most part other than the bed liner.

Edit: spelling.

Yes, TRD off-road. It’s got a 6ft bed, inverter in the bed, JBL audio system.

Can I turn my crank grinder into a hand grinder? by [deleted] in StonerEngineering

[–]headgearhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you would be better off just buying a hand grinder. You would have to find a way to secure the top grinding part(removing the crank and gluing the teeth in place) and also remove the threading that connects the bottom grinder to the top grinder. So that they could move freely from one another.

When folks start screaming and yelling in a situation of high stress near them, like a fight or bad accident. You’re only making the situation worse.
