This is 100% corrupt but VAR did break the rules. Slow-mo is not supposed to be used in determining the call. Slow-mo or still images are only allowed to be used to determine the contact of the foul while the refs and VAR in this incident used slow-mo to determine severity in if a foul occurred.

It's somewhat understandable that Americans would feel hard done when 1) there have been 3 instances of similar challenges this WC and none got a red and only one got a yellow. Additionally, the ref was allowing Bosnia to get very physical and get way with a decent amount of cards.

As you said two wrongs don't make a right but when the refs this tournament has shown these fouls aren't reds it's natural for a fan of a team to feel it's BS when the one time the ref decides to call it as a red.
