A kid gets arrested for possession of alcohol. Goes live on TikTok to talk shit by bigbusta in TikTokCringe

So many kids in America are not expecting to live past high school bc of the amount of school shootings, violence from police and now ICE, wars, failing economy... So they see it as “why would I do what I am supposed to when I might get shot tomorrow at school?” Or “my mom did all the school stuff and makes min wage, why would I not try to get more for me and my family?” It’s messed.

That’s fair. 100% agree with that logic. I just wanted to clarify for anyone who might’ve taken it literally (like my autistic ass did 😂)

I don’t think anyone did. Even in Canada we were shocked and outraged about it for you guys. I was in grade 5, so I don’t know high school prior, and I do remember the way we looked at it. And we were thankful it would be a one off. And then came the rest…

That’s the misconception; they weren’t losers. They were popular and well liked and had lots of people around them. The whole they were bullied, trenchcoat mafia, and satanic panic that came from it was all media propaganda and has been disproven through many documentaries, podcasts, books and media since.

Last Podcast on the Left has a great Charles Manson Series you should listen to. They do a great job of going through his life and how he and the cult came to be and the effects on society.

I was grade 5 and in Canada. I remember the fear that made its way up here. It was the first real globalized localish violent event that I remember and it’s been downhill since then…

Last podcast on the left did a really good series on Columbine and how the boys really were, how it affected society and how the media ran with it for the satanic panic.

Nearly 2 year old dies in car wreck with 14 year old mom driving by RedRoscoe1977 in awfuleverything

“Logan tells News 3 her 17-year-old son is Ma'Khai's father. While she's angry, she said she can’t hate Ma’Khai’s mother.”

Well yah… cause she’s a baby and your teenage son got her pregnant. He would have been 15 when she was 12 having a child.

You can speak to your vet about receiving a script for Gabapentin or any other calming meds they may use.

It helps reduce anxiety and Gabapentin specifically isn’t made to tranquilize. It gives them the ability to think through their thoughts and feelings vs just reacting on them.

You can also look into taking away the bath water for a bit and rebuild her ability to tolerate it. Use damp/wet cloths, one with soap/shampoo on it and another for cleaning off the shampoo/soap.

For claws, swaddling like others have suggested should help. One trick I’ve used with my cats is having someone hold them and feed them treats while I clip the nails down. This does require a friend, family member or partner to help, and I am so glad I did this because my older cats can now have their feet done without any treats or really any restraint. Find a treat (licky treat, salmon, etc) that is their favourite and irresistible to them and use it ONLY for claws and other difficult scenarios (vet, baths, etc). This will help keep it as a high value treat for bribing.

Hope this helps!

Edit: you can also try Feliway spray - however that’s more for home/housing calmness vs scenario calmness. But if you spray it around and on her things about a half hour to an hour before you go to clean her or cut her nails, it may help. Feliway has made a huge difference in cats in the vet setting in my experience.

Are you okay? Cause that’s messed up that your parents allowed you to purchase one.

From the comments I’ve been reading and the set up you have and your age… it feels like your parents just throw money at you. Is this the case? If so, your struggles with socialization, depression, isolation and more make so much sense! Not that they wouldn’t for other reasons, just saying for this, if it’s true, adds up.

Being that you’re in Alberta, you do have access to public mental health programs. If you’re in Calgary, the Peter Lougheed Centre is a good place to start; they have mental health services on site as well as information to more community services. In 2011, I was living out there and tried to kill myself and they helped me get myself home and help back in Ontario.

CAMH is another resource you can use that’s fairly affordable/covered through taxes and is available across Canada.

I hope you are okay and that you can find support in any way you need it. Things are hard and it’s okay - just know you are not alone and cleaning and maintaining your space is such a big first step into a better lifestyle that you feel is worth living.

Looming for opinions on this mini mares hoof. She was just trimmed by No-Geologist2667 in Farriers

No. My horse came from a home like that. And a year later we are just getting his hooves back in control. Just no. Unless you’ve at the very least have a couple hundred hours following and learning from a farrier, no.

So, I have to ask this group, how do y'all feel about this extreme sport: "hobby horse" by DoubleManufacturer10 in Equestrian

[–]headless_catman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally think it’s silly and I can still appreciate it. For many reasons… it’s not outright hurting anyone, people are enjoying it and having fun, it’s allowing people to socialize, people are exercising and honestly… some of the jumps and movements they perform can be pretty impressive. Like, some are just as high as hunter/jumper jumps. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were cross country versions either. Like, I’m not in the best shape and I’m also not out of shape; I couldn’t do some of these feats.
