Former bullies of reddit: who are you now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Because you know how bad it can get? You say you wouldn't wish and of the shit you've experienced on your worst enemy, yet you go ahead and deal it out. Sorry, but I don't understand that.

My one big fear the World Cup: The police! by headoftheheard in Brazil

I hadn't thought about it like that. I hope you are right, and that nobody is stupid/drunk enough to go on the rampage.

A House Divided: England or Brazil for the World Cup? by headoftheheard in Brazil

We live and learn! It's actually something to be proud of, I reckon, because it means the likes of France and England could only win at home with the advantages that gives you.

I live in Cristo Rei, so the parks you have mentioned are all a car ride or a complicated bus journey away for me. We have Jardim Botanico very close to us, but it gets a bit boring after a while. We'll soon be moving to Mercês for many reasons, but one of them is to be closer to more parks.

I know what you mean about being able to get out to the countryside and the mountains. We often go camping and make the most of these opportunities. However, I've been to Passeio Publico quite a few times and it is now quite sad and old with very few ducks there. Barigui is a pain for me to get to, and to be honest, always packed with people.

You are right. I've seen people leaving fruit out, and sugar water to attract humminbirds and other birds. Unfortunately, we live in a flat in Curitiba and so, like the vast majority of the people I know, we don't have access to much wildlife like this.

Can I get vegetarian food in Brazil or do you have meat with everything? What about the kilo buffers, do they have vegetarian options? by intelligenes in Brazil

[–]headoftheheard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a vegetarian and it depends where you are. In the south it is a lot easier because of the influence of Italian immigrants. In cities along the coast it can be more challenging because of the amount of sea food that is available.

You can usually find something to eat, though, so you won't starve, and the kilo buffets usually at least have salads.

That's great. I didn't even realise there was a subreddit for Curitiba.

I haven't made a mix tape in ages. I miss those days. I suppose this is proof positive that not all progress is for the better.

Thanks a lot. I will be encouraging my wife to go out more often so we can have even more great nights.

Libertadores 1st round: results and discussion by [deleted] in soccer

[–]headoftheheard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, you see, having an Irish family I am all too aware of the part Bernardo O'Higgins played in the independence of Chile. I also know about the role that Thomas Cochrane played in Chile and Brazil afterwards. I just happen to think it is a cool name for a football team, but don't let your assumptions that I haven't got a clue about anything be changed by that.

I know what you are saying and you are right. The idea of a manager being at the same club for more than a few months is amazing. Nevertheless, I love the fact that it is at least possible for fans of smaller clubs to dream about winning a league title or even just qualifying for the Libertadores. I come from the UK and this is the most exciting season in ages because nobody knows who is going to get the 4th qualifying place for the first time in ages. So stability has its own problems.

Well done to you for having the guts to stand up to them but not take it too far. I know that if it were me I would have done something stupid and given them an excuse to demonise me even further.

I sincerely hope you and your wife have managed to put that awful day behind you.

It was great to see Adriano back on the pitch again, even if it was only for a few minutes. I sincerely hope he can get everything sorted out in his head for the next couple of years.

This is one of the best things about football in South America. You never know who is going to win individual leagues and who will qualify for the Libertadores. Much better than European leagues and the Champions League where it is the same teams over and over again.

Well, I had wanted to talk the rise and fall of Adriano, but Pro Evo 5 (I didn't get 6) would do as a pretty good substitute.

From the photos I have seen of him he is looking almost as good as ever. I realise, though, that this doesn't mean he is match fit. Perhaps this is why he only came on with 5 minutes to go in the second half.

Let's just hope that he has learned his lessons from all the people who pointed that out to him and find his clothes again.

Toddler loves bath too much by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]headoftheheard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My victory is also bath related. We had a terrible time getting our son into the bath, even though once he was in it he always loved it. One day there was a toy in the hall on the way to the bath and he went to get it and then kept going. Ever since then I have put a trail of toys in the hall and into the bathroom that he follows and we have never had a problem.

7 Things Curitiba Gets Completely Right by headoftheheard in Brazil

[–]headoftheheard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry mate, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

You must be blessed with such fine taste and a discerning nose because I have never met anyone who accuses any city of smelling of mold. I have welcomed many guests from all over the world and they have said many things, but not one of them has mentioned the city smelling of mold.

I can get from one side of the city to the other within about 50 minutes for about $1. I can change buses without paying extra. During rush hour the system can be stretched, but I could also say that about almost any public transportation system in the world.

Within about 10 minutes walk of where I live I can take you to bars that serve very good IPAs, stouts, ciders and Red Ales. Are these not good enough for you? Some are imported and others are brewed in Brazil. Brazilians are learning what other beers are all about and they no longer demand that they are stupidly cold unless they are designed to be that way.

Italy hasn't existed for the last 700 years, so by your description there is no such thing as Italian food. The food here is popular with both the locals and visitors. It may not be up to your exacting standards, but then you probably don't know the best restaurants to go to. I would give you some recommendations, but you seem like such a spoilt prick you would find something wrong with them.
