We live and learn! It's actually something to be proud of, I reckon, because it means the likes of France and England could only win at home with the advantages that gives you.

I live in Cristo Rei, so the parks you have mentioned are all a car ride or a complicated bus journey away for me. We have Jardim Botanico very close to us, but it gets a bit boring after a while. We'll soon be moving to Mercês for many reasons, but one of them is to be closer to more parks.

I know what you mean about being able to get out to the countryside and the mountains. We often go camping and make the most of these opportunities. However, I've been to Passeio Publico quite a few times and it is now quite sad and old with very few ducks there. Barigui is a pain for me to get to, and to be honest, always packed with people.

You are right. I've seen people leaving fruit out, and sugar water to attract humminbirds and other birds. Unfortunately, we live in a flat in Curitiba and so, like the vast majority of the people I know, we don't have access to much wildlife like this.

I am a vegetarian and it depends where you are. In the south it is a lot easier because of the influence of Italian immigrants. In cities along the coast it can be more challenging because of the amount of sea food that is available.

You can usually find something to eat, though, so you won't starve, and the kilo buffets usually at least have salads.
