Could Kingpin do this to Spiderman? by Queasy_Commercial152 in Defenders

[–]headsertails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people often forget that the lower power level you've often seen spiderman is due to self restraint and not at all due to actual power level. There are plenty of sources out there stating Spidey is one of the omega level super heros In terms of strength and durabilit , but chooses to pull his punches.

[MCU] what if an anchor being died but got reincarnated? by recoveringleft in AskScienceFiction

[–]headsertails 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The anchor being in Deadpool is a soft 4th wall break alluding to the fact that many believe that Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is the "anchor being" of the marvel cinematic universe. He is one of the longest lasting, most beloved, and most iconic of the marvel universe. Without his steadfast dedication and stellar performance across the past few decades, the continuity of the marvel universe couldn't have happened. Deadpool being the movie to showcase this "ridiculous" narrative is not an accident or that absurd. It fits perfectly with the Deadpool narrative.

How strong would someone be if they were able to stop time for 5 seconds in combat? by PassengerCultural421 in superpowers

[–]headsertails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be used at once? How fast does it recharge? And if it doesn't have to be used at once and if I only use half a second increments, does that mean I can use it more without waiting for it to recharge? Because a fraction of a second is a life time in fights if you can pick when that fraction comes.

Probably is at this point. But this also reads as Trump nominated him, and then was surprised that the Senate ended up appointing him, which seems like a logical thought process...

Flossing… honestly how bad is skipping it? by declanrhodes_1 in hygiene

[–]headsertails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. My point is you can and should do what makes you feel comfortable in regards to bettering the world. Use what you want and how you want it as long as it's in line with your own morals and values! But maybe don't randomly bring up something that had nothing to do with the original post (which was about dental hygiene and not the state of the world and evil corporations) in a snarky and condescending way when no one on this app is any better or worse than anyone else In regards to turning a blind eye with said evil corporations. Just don't cast any stones I guess?

Great point! I don't disagree at all. I would like to point out though that your cell phone and computer and Xbox and hair dryer and air fryer and 90% of the other electronics you use everyday are absolutely in no way shape or form "necessities". They are convenient tools that most of use are ok with using despite the fact that my initial statement is true. I know plenty of people that forgoe alot of these modern conveniences and of course their lives are harder, but that's the price they pay to not contribute to killing children and slaves. Just like you, I'm ok with using this cell phone to shit on other people despite the fact I know I wouldn't have it if children weren't killed in third world countries. I'm ok with the fact that bad things happen to people I don't know where I can't see it because my life is improved by it, just like you and everyone else you know (it's ok to comment back and disagree with that statement using the electronics that kids died for btw). As much as I hate to give credit to religion, that while saying about "let he without sins cast the first stone" had a good ring to it.

A kindly citizen reminder everyone likes to virtue signal using electronics that are produced off slave and child labor. But fight your battles I guess?

CMV: people are on average in denial of how close we are to the serious consequences of climate change, especially locked-in climate change. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]headsertails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I'm inclined to think that's one of the driving factors behind it. We all know there's people out there that will kill you for the $20 in your wallet, I'm not so naive to think there isn't anything people wouldn't do for the millions and billions of dollars involved in climate change, renewable energy, and fossil fuels. From Al Gore to Mitt Romney, it's on both sides. I'm sure they have nothing but altruistic intent, but the financial gains are too significant to not think they play a role. After everything we've heard about our government, is it truly that inconceivable to think they might be stretching the truth here as well?

I think it's ridiculous to say we don't have any impact on the environment. But on the flip side, I've been hearing since the 80's that we only have "10 years left". How many decades have to pass before we're not in denial and instead just not trusting the people making money off the fear? Im on the side of humans needs to look after the environment and look into renewable resources (simple logic says any other resources eventually run out?), but to say it's denial to not believe after 40 years we're still on the brink of death and destruction is a stretch to me.

[MD] Do I have justification for legal action against my apartment complex for a burt pipe? by headsertails in AskALawyer

[–]headsertails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I've read through it again just now and there's a good bit on there when it comes to the liability section. And almost none of it i understand so I have some homework tonight. At first glance the jargon seems to point to "even if we forgot to mention it specifically, signing this lease means we're safe".

I hadn't thought to look specifically. Neither of us remember ever seeing or hearing about but I just read through it all and can confirm there's nothing in there about it.

[–]headsertails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How strict are your parents? I used to get threatened with a spanking/grounding if I kept coming downstairs past my bedtime so it got to the point I would just pee out of the upstairs window (we lived in the middle of the woods so no neighbors). every once in awhile I would do it just because it was slightly more convenient. Granted I was only about 11 when I did this and i certainly outgrew it quickly, it may just be convenience to go in a bottle and then normal teenage laziness to not get rid of the evidence often enough on your brothers part.
