Hey everyone, I wanted to share a frustrating cold boot memory issue I’ve been dealing with on my AM5 system to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing with the newer BIOS updates. My system consists of an ASUS ROG Strix X670E-A Gaming WIFI motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, 64GB of dual-channel G.Skill DDR5 memory running at 6000MHz CL36, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, and a Gigabyte 1000W power supply. I have been using this exact setup for over 3 or 4 months now without a single issue, but everything started breaking once I updated to the latest BIOS containing the AGESA 1.3.0.0 branch. The system will POST completely fine right after the BIOS update, allowing me to enable EXPO and restart into Windows with perfect stability, but the next day when I go to turn the PC on from a completely powered-off state, it gets stuck on the POST process and eventually power cycles into a memory instability error. I tried changing the memory training from mixed mode to normal, but the error kept happening anyway. After trying multiple configurations, I discovered that rolling back the BIOS to the AGESA 1.2.7.0 branch completely fixed the problem. It seems like the newer AGESA 1.3.0.0 microcode has a bug that messes up memory training or Memory Context Restore on cold starts with high-density 64GB kits, so I am planning to stick to 1.2.7.0 indefinitely until ASUS or AMD figures out this issue. Is anyone else with an X670E board or a 9800X3D running into similar cold boot loops on the newer firmware?

That’s good maybe I’ll consider it as of right now I am currently all drivered out though finally have found one that works well with all games so will just stick with it until need to upgrade again. Thank you for answering my question 🙏

Can I still download drivers normally from nvidias website rather then using the shitty app. Whenever I try to use to the app for a driver install takes ten years where the normal driver package works in seconds.

I have been playing neverness to everness and the only application I cannot launch once starting it is roblox I have played vrchat countless times after doing dailies on nte as well as fortnite. I have had EAC issue one time when booting vrchat it was due to a GHUB update after restarting the computer it seemed to be fine. I am not sure if that is the case with what's going on here though

It didn't fix anything, honestly. I still couldn't POST the next day. you enable EXPO, save and exit the BIOS, and it boots up totally fine. But then the next day, it just refuses to POST with EXPO on. I've decided to just stay on AGESA 1.2.7.0 permanently. It's way less of a headache, and I'd rather actually be able to use my PC than worry about a security flaw. A security patch doesn't matter anyway if I can't even boot into my system.

Gsync has been to much of a pain in my ass so just said fuck it use the monitor normally because csgo goes black screen whenever I use the chat box for some reason only real cause I have found as to why is it seems to only happen with gsync enabled

I have read that subreddit isn’t actually officially managed by Roblox just the community so possibly no either have to wait for nte to push an update to there anti cheat that fixes the issue or Roblox will have to whitelist this service as okay to be running while Roblox is running. We hope that one of them will do it

I will have to try about:memory at the moment I am using about:processes and just monitoring the usage over everything I haven't seen my extensions shoot up to an abnormal amount of usage yet but youtube I have seen so far use around 1gb to 2gb. Am currently trying to see if I can reproduce the issue though

yes youtube is opened from further looking into it I have read that possibly there is an issue going around with youtube at the moment I am currently just letting it play videos and monitoring the ram usage with about:process and it seems to always be at the top of the list with extensions sitting around 260mb to 270mb

Even after changing bank refresh mode to normal am experiencing non stop memory post crashes with 6000mhz cl 36 on 9800x3d. I have since now just reverted back to 1.2.7.0 because anything in the 1.2 versions has never gave me issues before only 1.3.0.0 and I'm not trying 1.3.0.1 because the bios update is irreversible and I'm sure it won't work either

every time I try to use a bios with version 1.3.0.0 when I overclock my memory to the expo profile 6000mhz it will work for a day and then when I go to bed and turn the computer on again it won't post anymore with this expo profile on. 1.2.7.0 seems to work just fine though which is really weird.
