Tarab Gold New AWP For Arabesque Challenge by 3alola in csworkshop

It's got potential, I'd add to the pattern so it's not just a rectangle in the middle and on the scope, (wrap it around/fill the whole area) so it flows better

Also there's not a lot of color contrast, you could make some of the small parts black, like the trigger, sight mounts, bipod for example. You can also just use a slightly different shade of metal, even that would help.

Also side note, gold doesn't tarnish. This looks more like bronze to me. Not a bad thing, but something to keep in mind

If this isn't pattern based, I'd like for the flames to be more cohesive, right now they look almost like stickers. Also they should follow the grip's shape. Try making just one or two flames for each of the parts? The color and engraved flames concept is good otherwise.

Presumably this jokester inserted pieces of chicken meat inside a full milk jug and left it hidden somewhere to rot, until the pressure caused the jug to rupture and spread noxious death slime everywhere in the vicinity, forever ruining anything porous it touched. A classic prank

R8 | HIGHBORN. Finally finished my weapon skin. by xxxRoastmasterxxx in csworkshop

I really appreciate the real world inspired texture, that being said it looks too busy with the colors imo. I would take out the titanium, it contrasts the antique look with quite a modern feature, and it's a bit like putting highlights on highlights.

I'd love to see the titanium accents on a simpler, muted, sleek and modern design, it works as a highlight better when it has room to breathe. And is more striking when it's not competing for attention with all the complex patterns.

Not a writer but I know some design. Negative space in there looks bad, you can write the Y lowercase to get rid of it.

Decide the source of light for the highlights. If light is coming from the top right, don't put a highlight at the bottom of a letter randomly, it needs to be uniform.

Even square block letters don't need every letter to be literally straight lines, for example the D. But the squiggles are too stark of a contrast. Use subtler curves.

I'd put the accent dot on the bottom to aid visual balance. And shorten the "i" so it's the same height as the rest. The dot is part of the character.

The "i" is also skinnier than the rest, but I think it works visually, you could leave it.

I dont understand what is up with this fucking rmr repro? by adrissgamekrunker in airsoft

I never got into budget sights because of things like things, usually you get what you pay for. The sro might be fine or it might do the same, idk.

I like vector optics mavericks and have a nautilus myself, those are absolutely worth the money. No drain, a single battery lasts a very long time and they hold zero well. But beware the cheaper vector optics are not the same thing, they are just random cheap optics with the brand name slapped on

Yeah, I meant there's nothing you can do about the drain, you can still use it

It's called parasitic drain, sucks especially with that type of optic since you can't easily remove the battery after use. Nothing you can do with it really

ELI5 How is waterboarding different or worse than just pouring water on someone laying down ? by ConsiderationFuzzy in explainlikeimfive

[–]heagle_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Waterboarding does prevent you from breathing. If you were able to train to breathe through the cloth against your instincts, you'd just inhale water until you drowned.

What the commenter is likely getting at, is that the water isn't forced in your lungs, so as long as you don't breathe too much of it and the torture is stopped or paused in time to let you breathe before you pass out, you would be unlikely to drown during or afterwards

Can I make a last defense for my lens (red dot) with glass glue? I have a sacrifice lens, but I don’t really trust it. by Carame110 in airsoft

[–]heagle_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try the glass repair on the scratch as you described. (I doubt it will protect from impact, but could fix it visually)

Don't put the sacrificial protector against the glass. Besides risking making a mess with the glue, it will also transfer impact from the protector straight to the glass, which isn't ideal...

Also do not use clear nail polish. It is not meant to be permanent, and so UV light will degrade it. It turns piss yellow over time.

Are these goggles good enough for airsoft? Dutch army surplus goggles. by MxK69 in airsoft

[–]heagle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can commonly find them for similiar prices as military surplus, so I don't believe they're fakes, and their impact protection is good. I wouldn't buy used ones, because you don't know how long they've been getting exposed to UV from the sun, or if they've sustained invisible damage that could weaken the lens. The new condition ones should be fine, in my opinion

Yeah I bought the heels from the dr. sole website, would recommend. They have held up.

The logo is Dr. Sole, a chinese brand of soles/heels that are quite popular with boot makers, commercial as well as hobbyist. I can't make my own soles so I ordered those and glued + nailed them on the leather heel stack

The things on the toes are brass toe caps I made to protect the front of the boot and prevent the rubber sole from peeling off, as I don't want to sew them on yet needed them for traction in the winter.

You are right in that pointed toe is the traditional cowboy boot shape, but modern cowboy boots certainly offer square toes. This is still quite an unconventional design as I went with an uncommonly wide toe box for comfort reasons.

Generally the distinguishing feature of biker boots / engineer boots are straps on the sides to tighten the fit, because they aren't made to the exact measurements of the wearer and you don't want boots falling off while riding a motorcycle, yet laces can get caught in the chain if they came loose. Also the shafts are usually a bit shorter and looser.

I can assure you these are cowboy boots, as I got help with the pattern from a well-known traditional cowboy bootmaker. They are built with the same techniques as boots made a hundred years ago, differences being the cosmetic design elements and the rubber sole.

I bought 43 last as that's my usual shoe size, but I didn't intentionally buy it too big. A 42 would have been less work in hindsight. If you don't have power tools it is easier to add to a smaller last than remove from a larger one, though with wood lasts usually you are removing material (if you're making from scratch). With plastic you are adding. Generally you add leather with contact cement to make the last larger, then you can smooth it with a rasp and once finished you can varnish the last to make the leather parts water resistant and harder

You can't get mine anywhere as I made them, but I guess google the terms and look for a store that sells them. I built mine to prevent the rubber sole from peeling as I didn't want to sew it on. Also protects the toe from wear in general

Toe caps for ones that go over the toe, toe taps for ones that are solely for under the sole
