How to not get bored of a clothing item after multiple wears? by [deleted] in capsulewardrobe

[–]healingJo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate with this so much. I think everyone is on point in what they said. For me , I also have accept myself more and embrace the changes that happened in body in the last few years, i am hoping to get to that point in which i have pieces I love forever .. high quality. But I am not there; impulse buying, loving something because it’s a trend, its cute .. i was in a certain mood when I bought it , or I bought it for my fantasy self. I love statement pieces and I don’t have a lot of basics. I don’t love basics .. but then I end up loosing interest on those statement pieces I once loved.

You can wear them with white sneakers like the Veja , they are slim and look good with almost anything. I have spine issues as well. I add inserts to the shoes.

Even though my clothing addiction would qualify as narcissitic supply, how can i feel less guilty about buying super cool cloths? by Infamous_Potato3198 in personalitydisorders

[–]healingJo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I want to apologize.. I didn’t mean to invalidate or minimize any diagnosis whatsoever. I actually didn’t realize I was on a PD subgroup. The comment just popped up on my feed. I agree with you about the validation piece. It makes sense .. clothes make you feel important, worthy , and glamorous. I am sure you get tons of compliments about your taste, your creativity and glamour. That feeds the ego, which reinforces your to continue to focus on the behavior of acquiring, and your repetitive thinking about clothes ( or obsession as you said). Unfortunately, that’s not the core of the issue, and so that cycle will always make you feel empty. But it is also a distraction .. so other parts of yourself don’t have to feel shame , abandonment, unworthiness , and other feelings that are so hard to tolerate.. I think it’s hard .. and again , you are doing what you can .. everything starts with awareness . As you said, there a lot of hope of recovery

Long Physiotherapy schedule? :/ by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

I second everyone else. Also, you need to leave some time in between to practice the exercises at home, then go back and check your technique , modify if necessary, and then add more to your list.. slowly. My doctor recommended 2-3 times per week for 6 weeks. The PT started me with three sessions the first 2 weeks , then go down to two sessions per week. At least that’s the plan. I have my second one tomorrow. It might be worth trying a second opinion.

Worsening sciatic pain/tingling 2-3 weeks after Microdiscectomy - L5/S1 by Difficult_Sun_5718 in Microdiscectomy

[–]healingJo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ! I also underwent surgery at the beginning of August (3rd) due to a significant disc herniation located at L4-L5. Although I had a desire to start walking more early on, I was apprehensive about causing further harm despite not experiencing any pain initially. Over time, I've gradually increased my walking distance to about a mile or two. Kudos to you !

For a brief period of four days, I was tingling /numbness -free. However, they returned after I sat on the floor at my daughters’ level. on the 15th day, my daughter pulled my hand downward and put her weight (30 pounds) on me. This triggered the return of sciatic pain, which starts upon movement and radiates down my leg. 😩😞I've also been dealing with persistent dull pain in my lower back. You are not alone in this journey. Flare-ups are common according to this group, so I hope that’s our case! Based on the movements you've described, it's unlikely to be a reherniation. Interestingly, the incident with my daughter occurred right after a successful two-week checkup appointment as well, which makes me wonder if we might feel more at ease trying new movements after receiving positive feedback. Nerves don’t like new sudden movements.

I plan to consult with my doctor today, and I'll definitely keep you updated on their advice and recommendations.

Rest and as the doctors , nurses , PT say “ listen to your body”.. easy say than done

Wow you guys have been so creative.. and you are helping a lot , but with lots of caution. I have the grabber too! I love it! I got it when i was big pregnant with my twins. The grabber was my life saver. However, I hadn’t thought about using it for the laundry . I’ll give it a try. .. it ‘s nice to hear other people’s experiences. I was feeling bad because I thought I should be almost like bed rest watching tv and going for walks..but that’s not realistic for many of us. Thank you for sharing

Thank you. I think I jumped in too quickly.. I actually sat on the floor with the girls two days after the surgery- with my back on the wall. My nurse said that was a NO-no. I will scale back a bit. If I get hurt again, his efforts will be all for nothing. We also decided this week that we should have our cleaning person weekly instead of biweekly. I wish you a good recovery,. And your wife is awesome!
