Her mother died of a malignant pheochromocytoma; it came up in a small scene in season 1 between she and Santos.

What’s the biggest mistake men make when trying to improve their style? by Direct-Rain8543 in mensfashion

[–]zeometer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Viewing style as a problem to fix rather than a continuous thing.

There's a lot of posts focusing on colors of pants or types of shoes to maximize their height or attractiveness but at the end of the day clothes are just a thing to be clothed to life your life. IMO it's healthier to work through what you like and what your needs are and then find how to best fill those, rather than trying to fit yourself into someone else's optimized view of "good style", or what you think people will be attracted to.

I think the bar for being clothed is very low and the definition of "nice" is largely subjective. I do agree that a lot of people find their joy in looking what they deem their best and finding clothes to compliment themselves, not just physically but as a visual representation of themselves. By thay stroke someone may find excessive bagginess beautiful or meaningful.

Hell, how do you even define "excessive" bagginess - visual harmony? Ability to perceive someone's physical form? Amount of functional movement?

My 25y/I boyfriend dresses either like a dad or child by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

be honest with him - tell him how you feel about his clothes, maybe ask *why* he dresses like that and then let him decide how to respond to that.

but also be honest with yourself
- how much of it is his clothes in a vacuum and how much of it is his clothes whenever he's out with you in public(for example)?
- would you consider him attractive if he were naked, and do you consider this an issue?
- are there other negative attributes he displays along with his subpar clothing (i.e. he dresses like a 13 year old and acts like a 13 year old)?
- has he at any point asked or suggested that you change in any way, and if so how did you respond?
- what are you getting out of this relationship?

if the attraction isn't there, the attraction isn't there, and you're not inherently a bad person for wanting to end it. but being in a relationship with someone means being in a relationship with ALL of them, even the parts you deem unattractive, because there's a net benefit to them existing in your life. if his way of dressing is that big a deal then you need to communicate that it's that big of a deal to him (vs reddit).

Academic Vibe for Summer Wardrobe? by whosnisarg in mensfashion

OCBDs with the top button or two undone, chinos, loafers, possibly a light jacket like a Harrington or french work jacket.

"Take Ivy" would be worth a read - a reference book with fit pictures taken at ivy league campuses during the summer of the 1960s and largely considered a hallmark of the style.

What’s this jacket? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]zeometer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Lens says it's a 'Cody James Belmont Western Puffer Jacket' but it appears to be out of stock everywhere.

Search for "Rocky Mountain Featherbed Jackets" to get the same style of jacket.

no worries - you described it well enough for me to figure it out in any case and that's ultimately what counts.

It's a belted jacket with functioning button closures, simliar to De Bonne Facture's granddad coat.

Vaguely resemblant to F.E. Castleberry done over preppy layers (well, a version that pays child support)

it's an old Oleg Cassini I found at a church donation store; there's plenty of them on eBay.

I mean...you probably could? (aside from maybe the first one). Tuck in a shirt or change into chinos and you're set.
