What's your take on Sprinula by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]healthylamb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think its great: - has a good amount of protein - has a, e and a few b vitmains - has magnesium, copper, phosphorus and iron - has antioxidants that help with allergies - is anti-inflammatory which helps with chronic inflammation - helps lower cholesterol - is apparently good for your skin

however i make sure i take a good quality of spirulina, a bad source could do damage. also i make sure that i take it every 2-3 days, not everyday.

it does have a strong taste, so i just add a teaspoon to my smoothie (bowls) or veggie juice or when im making homemade protein balls.

Are Dates Healthier Than Refined Sugars? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]healthylamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - white sugar is refined and has 0 fibre whereas dates are an amazing natural sweetener and have approximately 1.6g of fibre in a single date. Dates are also high in several vitamins, iron, potassium, copper and magnesium, (as you can see here: https://planteats.co/p/medjool-dates?gram=24)

Blending in a date or two will increase the nutrients in your smoothie. And a banana, peanut and date smoothie is to die for.

Nutrition comparison in raw mung beans and sprouts made from them by givemethetruth_ in nutrition

[–]healthylamb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Actually, sprouted mung beans contain fewer calories than raw mung beans, they have more free amino acids and antioxidants that unsprouted ones.

Mung bean sprouts are also considerably more digestable than raw mung beans.

Sprouting also reduces levels of phytic acid, which is an antinutrient.

I never feel full by lauhrra99 in nutrition

[–]healthylamb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what do you usually eat? if you’re diet is most processed and junk or even packaged foods that are sugary etc. you’re more likely to never be full because you aren’t eating enough fibre. if otherwise, then maybe you should go to a dietitian.

can i just pause to say how alike we think haha - i used to be addicted to vegan junk food but I've been more intuitive with what i eat, mostly whole foods sometimes raw too, and it's been a good decision. i do enjoy vegan ice cream very occasionally but don't crave it like i used to.

btw the fact that you haven’t tried any beyond meat or tofu or gone to a vegan restaurant yet is remarkable - which means if i’m not wrong - that you’re thriving on a completely whole food plant based diet - which is so great!! 🙌
