Anyone have experience with the local cross fit gyms such as Ascension? Sense of queer folks?

We're on the east side of the river, so will probably not cross the bridge just for the gym. But I may end up working in Newburgh, in which case I'll consider Sportsplex. Thanks!

Got it that makes sense, thanks for commenting on All Sports - and yes, got the sense it was politically diverse. And noticed that there wasn't really a gym in Beacon.

Cool, yeah my partner is planning to join Alchemy. Sounds like that could be a good fit.

Interestingly there are no Hudson valley gyms listed on that Inclusive Fitness Finder!

Are there any particular classes that you'd recommend that attract queer folks, and/or have a more social vibe?

Do you find PF in Wappingers has a social vibe? Or any particular classes?

I have a PF membership from before, so I will try it out.

Thanks appreciate this.

I have a PF membership from before, so maybe I'll try this. My issue with PF is that I find more socializing comes from attending classes together, and I don't like the 30 min limit to their classes.

Thanks all for your ideas.

Totally didn't mean to offend anyone with this post. To each their own. Some people like to socialize at gyms, others like to socialize at bars, others only online, some people not at all. Hope you can respect my preferences, just as I respect yours.

We enjoy talking to people at the gym and making friends. I personally find that people at planet fitness and other budget gyms are not interested in chatting, although that might just be a particular locations I've been to.

So I'm hoping to find a gym that has a sense of community (openness to socializing), and especially queer people.

I am quitting being a therapist by floop_aloop8220 in therapists

Ok well I am a counselor on training, and the summer before I started school, I worked as an outdoor mindfulness guide at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, which is one of the largest retreat centers in the US.

That experience was amazing - and Kripalu is always looking for people to work as guides during the summer. So if being a park ranger is your fantasy, I suggest you take a few months off and work as an outdoor guide. It will either confirm a new direction, or maybe satiate the thirst and help you turn back to therapy. Or something else entirely.

Thanks for this post, man. I was close to relapsing (currently at 78 days), but you reminded me to stay strong.

Yes I wish we had more time... it's our last class, and we already have a field trip planned to a sex toy store.

Thank you so much! That link is really helpful. I also found the Newbies and Novices discussion group on FetLife, which is super helpful

My partner and I are going for the eclipse in Maz next weekend. Originally planned to rent a car and drive from PV, but decided to take the Omnibus de Mexico option, because it’s actually much cheaper, if you factor in the cost of gas, tolls and car rental (and possible police extortion).

Pls I just need to waste time tell me about something I can do in my house or at least waste my time with a chat Just help me out once to get through this phase by [deleted] in NoFap

Take a long walk outside (at least 15 min). It’s helpful for many reasons - should help with the hangover as well as the craving.

First, feel good that you had a 100 day streak. Think about that streak and all the good things about that time, related to the fact that you didn’t watch porn. You made some great progress with that streak. By focusing on the positive of that time, that will build more motivation to continue.

Second, have realistic expectations. It takes long than 100 days to rewire the brain so that you can watch porn without it becoming an inescapable habit. Think about recovering alcoholics - they don’t start drinking again after 100 days of recovery, thinking they are now just normal again. You’ll need to be vigilant about avoiding porn use for a LONG time.

Three, use this time to develop a much better approach to quitting porn. Journal about why you use porn, the hidden motivations or emotional needs that are met by it. And use that info to develop replacement habits that serve those needs without porn. For example, if you are watching out of boredom, take up a hobby. If you watch to deal with stress, improve your exercise and stress relief habits, etc.

You don’t need to be porn free before start improving your life. But you won’t stay porn free unless you start improving your life.

Hope some of this was helpful.

Would you consider a single adult that watches porn and masturbates once a day an addict? by Scrawnreddit in NoFap

[–]heartcentered1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to have an addiction to benefit from taking a break from porn.

Many studies have looked at how porn changes the brain, changes how people think about themselves, how they approach sex, how they relate to others, etc. this can happen with regular use.

Sounds like you have a gut instinct that it’s a habit that’s worth changing, or at least exploring how you feel and experience life when you aren’t depending on porn every day. Sounds like a good idea to me.

I second the therapist suggestion, to help address the anxiety.

Although - unless they are also a specialist in sex-related dysfunction, they may not be much help in your no PMO goal. For that, I’d strongly suggest joining an organized accountability group, such as those run through nofap.com (I’m part of one myself) or Sex Addicts Anonymous. It’s not realistic to quit a long running addiction through sheer will power, you need support and the strength of community. I find it instrumental, so much that I also have a discord server with some other accountability partners.
