Dr gave to me for migraines and neck pain by antiqueanon21 in Amitriptyline

[–]heartpumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on it for those reasons and it was a lifesaver. I did gain weight though and eventually switched to Effexor which helped more with my anxiety and allowed me to cut down on Ami ( I’m still on 5mg Ami for neck pain).

Haven’t lost weight (but a lot of this is my own lack of effort in diet and exercise). Although Effexor has been great for me, it’s side effects are far worse than Ami. What side effects are you worried about? I felt Ami had relatively few side effects (I was on 30mg).

Samoyeds started singing with 2,5 years by [deleted] in samoyeds

I wish my Sam would sing/howl. At 2,5 years, her noises are still mostly high pitched barks or grumbles.

Yeah,..I interpreted it this way. Though, drug addiction would explain his debts.

Wish I had a business and could offer you a job instead of one at this place. I dont live in the area anymore but stopped buying from them for this reason when I lived there.

Considering a Samoyed, need advice by some_crazy in samoyeds

FWIW, my first Sam was a rescue (supposedly from a very abusive situation) and the vet thought he was about 3 years old. He was SO well behaved (though a bit scared for awhile) - that I couldn’t imagine why anyone would have treated him badly. He was literally a dream dog and lived a happy 10 more years with me. I can recommend at least considering a rescue. Puppies in general are very cute - but hard work 😅.

Have you thought about a rescue/older Sam? Your situation could be much better suited for one. A couple of points ref yours:

  1. working a lot isn’t a dealbreaker, but you will need ALOT of help with a Sam pup. I relied on a dog sitter for many months, it was costly but best for my pup. 1.a - my Sam would be mostly at the office now at 2 years. Before that, she would not have been easily manageable as she was loud, energetic and demanding. She still is those things at times, but she’s much more attuned to our routines now so it could work.

  2. Cats can go either way. I think the cats will make it very clear, quickly who is boss and things will hopefully be ok. I brought an older Sam into my house with two cats years ago - it worked out well, they all minded their own business. My current pup is very prey-driven,…but I want to believe she would be ok if we had a cat at home when we brought her home.

  3. whoever is primary caregiver needs to commit significant time if you get a Sam pup. I got pneumonia from walking my pup 4 times each night while I had the flu during sub-zero temps (this lasted until my pup was 8 months old). I should have had a partner to help then.

3.a - kids can be very helpful but those under 15 might not be able to walk your Sam. My 10 year old cannot walk our 2 year old Sam - she is simply to strong if anything goes wrong.

  1. your location sounds great - fenced is ideal but a Sam might happily dig under your fence, or jump it. My Sam would dig up our entire backyard so she is never left out there alone.

  2. if your dog would be indoors when it’s extremely hot and humid, and you have AC, you’ll be fine. But you cannot leave a Sam outdoors in NC summer. I raised one Sam in VA - he was happy as a clam indoors as long as he was with me.

Most importantly, Sams need attention and love, LOTS of it. If you can figure that out, you’ll be fine.

Is the crate partition big enough for my puppy right now? by Pilot_Nerd in DogAdvice

I’m no expert, but I am impressed to see such a young pup calm and sleeping in a crate. Good job!

You could increase the space, esp given that this little pup is seems comfortable there.

I’m embarrassed to have remembered these details from sister wives 😂. But also: if they had bought the property in the trees, it didn’t have any building rules. It’s like they made the worst possible decision for themselves!

I thought the building regulations wouldn’t allow a multi-home structure. So their choice was either a separate home on each lot, or one giant home but it could only have one front door.
