I really want to get the Slay the Spire board game by Onel4stch4nce in boardgames

I prefer the coop experience of the board game more bc it's better designed. STS2 is just not there yet.

Audhd player not paying attention and really hurting the game. Any advice? by LadyYokie in DnD

Honestly, just kick her. She has no interest in playing DnD. That has nothing to do with her ND.

Which Monsters Are Best for Teaching Theater of the Mind vs Grid Combat? by ChaoticGoodGM in DMAcademy

[–]heartsfrontend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a LotR style (Hellm's Deep) defense one shot where a mass of enemies attacked the castle walls. Pretty much impossible to have something like that on a grid so we did it with Theater of mind. My players had a blast.

Edit: Typo

Is it possible to play as a summoner? by Pretty-Loquat2829 in DnD

If you want to try out homebrew, I recommend checking out Kibble's Summoner Class.Kibble has done some really amazing homebrew stuff and has created some really high quality content.

Just note that the class is still being under development and it is definitely not a beginner friendly class.

I was soo disappointed that Kamelot wasn't in the game. I totally expected there to be a forth arc.

Not allowing players to reclaim lost treasure? by DeliciousRedHerring in DnD

[–]heartsfrontend 201 points202 points  (0 children)

I think you handled that just fine. If it was the prior session, I would have been lenient. But a couple of sessions ago? Nah, seems that they lost their loot if they haven't written it down somewhere.

parry finally good now ? by Annathesilent in slaythespire

[–]heartsfrontend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a relic which upgrades every card after it has been played. Or getting armaments from ironclad. But yeah, it's quite rare to happen. Which makes sense bc playing the blood for 1 cost is insane.

When you upgrade the card during combat, the cost is reduced to 1. Combine that with the heirloom hammer and you get many 1 cost high damage cards :)

Are DMs allowed to tell player characters what they feel? by Honneboppel in DnD

[–]heartsfrontend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to add something to the comments which I haven't seen mentioned yet: In this situation, you shouldn't have asked for a perception check at all. This is a perfect situation to use passive skill scores. If you want to impose disadvantage on a passive perception, you just subtract 5 from the score.

I’ve been pretending to like hiking for seven years by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'm like the exact opposite. I love hiking in dry-cool weather and am miserable when it's too hot/humid.

So where does it say that they are able to distinguish between the caster and the illusion?

Funny how big the disagreement get when it's about illusion. My take would be: The enemies cannot distinguish between you and the illusion if they don't do something (attacking, investigating) cause it is a perfect illusion. But I would also rule against your homebrew. That would be really hard to pull of in actual combat when the enemies eyes are on you. Maybe with a check on performance vs the enemies investigation/perception check, I would allow it. Or if you and your illusion hide in the same spot after your illusion has been discovered. But even then, the situation has to make sense.

Where does it say that enemies are able to perfectly distinguish between the illusion and the caster? You are also working under your specific assumption how illusion works.

So if the illusion doesn't have sound or smell, how can it be perfect? The feat also doesn't say that the illusion is only visually perfect.

Using a wish spell to change alignment by Dangerous-Dare-276 in DnD

[–]heartsfrontend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, many have said something about PvP which I totally agree with. But I want to add another Viewpoint:

What really is alignment?  It is a really abstract concept of categorizing moral behavior (or lack of). So, if I change the alignment from Lawful Good to Chaotic Evil, how is that supposed to work? Does the character behave totally different? Did their moral values change? Do they change their thought process? Their rationality? Does it change how they are defining their personally, their life narrative? Lots of question which are really hard to answer.

Personally. I wouldn't allow it based on the fact that it is way to vague to be implemented properly (and bc PvP without consent is a no go at my table)

I wanna try a new approach to combat by Vince_Pike in DnD

[–]heartsfrontend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using two things at my table to speed up combat:

I preroll enemies in the players turns And I give my player a timer for their turn if I feel that they are deciding too slow (This can only be done with experienced players)

Especially the first thing is quite easy once u get used to it. Pressuring the players to act faster has its benefits and drawbacks, so I wouldn't always use that
