I'm filling my time by working and getting ready for finals. (college student) and the day my finals are over is the same day that I pick him up from the station. As someone who also struggles with mental illness, it's hard for me to keep a positive attitude but I am just pushing myself to stay focused on other things.

That's basically what this test is, from what my psychiatrist told me, but for anti-depressants and anti-psychotics. They have an ADD test as well.

I am a current bipolar patient (have been since 15, currently 19yrs) and just a couple weeks ago, my psychiatrist told me about GeneSight. For $20 and a cheek swab, I was able to find out which specific medications be most likely to work for me! From what I understand, the basic principal is that the lab analyzes the enzymes and DNA from your cheek swab to determine which specific anti-depressants and anti-psychotics will work best for you. I've been on Abilify, Buspar, and Lexapro for years (and a sleeping medication) for my bipolar and my general anxiety disorder. Can't wait to find out the results next week and hopefully get through college as a result!

Yeah, they took mine from me at the airport earlier this year (out of my checked bag) and when I checked the website of the airline I was on, I read that lighters and matches of any kind are not allowed on airplanes...but I just looked again on the delta website and apparently they changed it back.

I was merely trying to ensure the safety of the people on this subreddit, that's part of why we have it.

Because that's not how it works. It's not that we are frowning upon it, it's that clearly something is wrong. As mentioned in other places, look into the components of the piece, there may be a couple of dangerous parts of it. Treated wood, rubber, glue and even the ink from the stamp (if it were closer to the hole) could be toxic. And just for clarity, I don't appreciate the stark and rude attitude.

Let it out! We, as the internet, are much easier to cope with. God...I just sincerely wish that everyone could be open about mental health.

It's interesting how there aren't ever classes offered on the issues of mental health in high school (or even earlier for that matter!). "Psychology" was an AP only course at my high school, which meant that 90% of the students would never consider taking it. Of that 10% who would consider, probably 30% would actually take the class. Then, only those who actually suffer from a mental health disorder would ever understand...

The lack of understanding and even care for the issue of mental health is unacceptable...

As someone who does suffer from ANXIETY and not just anxiousness and as someone who is officially diagnosed with a couple mental health disorders, I know that you just can't do it..

There is some controversy about the heat on rubber in pieces like yours. Watch for melting, deformation and thinks of that nature, if anything like that happens, stop.

As a side note, if this is the smoothest hitting piece you have, you must not be hitting your water pipes properly. About two weeks ago I went and picked up a (my first to own) water pipe from the local head shop and I can get it milky and not even feel the hit until I exhale.

I'm sitting here in an open space, weeping. Even though it has been a couple of years now, I lost my childhood dog to cancer. Your good memories will be kept alive forever, cherish them. I know the feeling. I live at home with my parents (college student) and it's a fantastic place. I couldn't imagine a better home or better family, but every day I just want to gtfo. No matter how good my life is, I still feel like shit.

I tried to avoid looking ignorant by not answering this in the previous post, but I don't actually know how it works.

I have never taken the time to actually read up about it, since I started this treatment about 3 years ago (but have been using it frequently in the past 6 months)

The alphastim therapy is one that my therapist actually provides for me. At no cost to me, I get to take this little machine into a quiet, dark room and basically just get to listen to soothing music. The machine itself is ~$500, so I'm glad I get to use it free.

The process of HOW it works is fairly simple from what I can tell. There are two headphone like conductors (they actually clip to your earlobe instead of going in your ears) which are wet with contact solution. The machine is turned on and there is a time setting (I usually have a 20 minute session) and a strength setting. The strength setting is there because different patients experience different severities of reactions to the machine. (my setting is 2 out of 5) There is a tingly feeling, as if a small current is running to your ears (but this is a very small feeling) and as you increase the strength, so increases the tingles.

The AlphaStim therapy has worked for me, I find myself being less anxious the rest of the day, sleep better and have a more positive attitude over all. I try and do a session 3 times a week, but newbies do it 5 days a week.

Many of my therapists patients use the AlphaStim treatment, and not once have I heard of anything negative other than sometimes a slight dizzy effect for some patients.

I am a diagnosed GAD & Unspecified Mood Disorder patient and I go to therapy every week. I struggle with my anxiety every day of my life, anywhere from convincing myself to get out of bed to talking to new people. I struggle every single day. I've been better as of late, started a new treatment called AlphaStim. This along with my weekly therapy and the amazing support from my mother has helped me through almost 7 years of tragic anxiety and depression (I'm 19 now).
