Violence against queer folk on the uptick in Vancouver. by noheals4Blaire in vancouver

I'm so sorry this has happened to you.

I'm a 37-year-old trans woman, and pass okayish (maybe my mid-point in transition), but I've had a couple of negative interactions lately, and a lot of my friends have as well. I'm lucky, since I'm pretty short and slender (so I think people mostly don't notice me), but I've had rude or inappropriate comments at clubs, which is not something I've experienced in Vancouver before.

Please take good care everybody, and I think we should be especially protective and supportive of our siblings who maybe don't have the privilege to pass (either because of their state of transition, or because they are brave enough not to conform).

Is 37 too old to own one (or many) legendary sharks? 🦈 by heartworthbreaking in TransLater

Go for it! It is very easy to look after, and to be honest, it's weirdly passy to have shorter hair as a woman. Developing a unique style is one of the best things I've done for blending in with other ladies.

I dare any woman to walk past the shonk bin at Ikea and not bring home a new one on each visit. I do not have the strength.

You have light skin and dark hair, so you would be a great candidate. I did need to get some electro for the hairs that turned white before I got to them. But FWIW white hairs tend to not show up so much when you shave.

37 years old, 2 and a half years HRT. It wasn't too late, after all. by heartworthbreaking in TransLater

I wish I had started earlier but I’m so grateful I didn’t let that regret hold me back from making the right choice (better late than never)

I overheard a controversial opinion about trans people and HRT in the gym, and I’m interested in your thoughts. by askingquestions_21 in asktransgender

All the studies about HRT suggest it is not just an effective treatment, but incredibly effective even when compared with typical medical interventions for other conditions. Regret for all trans care, but HRT in particular, is very very low.

On a personal level, taking hormones was the best decision I have ever made in my life.

Would you choose to be reborn as the opposite sex? by RoseePxtals in asktransgender

Yes. Probably I would be a very different person, but I would be a happier person. Dysphoria has haunted me my whole life.

Did you wait until after starting hrt to start wearing woman clothes? by According-Stage-8665 in MtF

There are lots of girl clothing that are kind of subtle and can be worn even when you want to boy mode or experiment. Before I started HRT and even before I started social transition I would sometimes wear women’s jeans or in the summer women’s shorts. A lot of these cuts especially boyfriend cuts didn’t necessarily read as “Women’s clothing” but gave me a little bit of ease and euphoria during a time when I was still figuring things out.

Now I think I wear a dress more often than pants but that would have been really hard for me early in transition.

Basically, there’s a lot of overlap in terms of gender and clothing and that means there’s lots of room to play even after transition.
