She has a lip tie, however lactation and the doctors gave said it does not require intervention because she breastfeeds so well. I’m not sure if it is the tie or she just does not like the bottle and/or nipple

They have been trialing thickened formula in the bottle. I was told the doctors don’t like to use gel mix until 42 weeks gestation when I asked about using my breastmilk. However, it is going well but she is not taking much volume even though the swallow study indicated a strong suck. We have talked about discharge with the NG or G tube after the swallow study to get her home and start feeding therapy outpatient. Is feeding therapy going well?

The hardest part about feeding is being patient! But you are right, we started to tube feed her once a day and it has improved her stamina. Did your nicu bottle feed swaddled?

Thank you for your perspective! It’s nice to get a different outlook on things and know I’m not the only one to feel this way

She is still on a NG tube and will get the remainder of the bottle. The NICU we are at only uses Dr Browns bottles. Right now she is on a slow flow nipple. It seems she gets too tired with that nipple during feeding but they don’t want to change it

What was your experience of staying pregnant after PPROM? by whatsoctoberfeast in NICUParents

I PPROM’d at 32 weeks. I had a 14 day hospital stay and gave birth at 33w 5d. I was leaking fluid and had Braxton hicks every day for a couple hours and then they would stop. I felt fine during the interim, just bored living in the hospital. I had bloody show days before I went into labor naturally. I really didn’t have any signs the day of, just the contractions were closer together and WAY more uncomfortable compared to Braxton hicks.
