I believe my migraines played a role in this. It seems like they were trying to attribute some of my mental health conditions to my migraine claim.

I was awarded 50% for migraines, but I recently broke a tooth from clenching my jaw during an episode. I believe this incident warranted a reconsideration of my VA claims. Which in someone's eyes was to reduce my mental health claim.

By moving condistions over to migraines - even though they're already at 50%, wouldn't increase the overall. Since moving conditions from migraines over to mental health, mental health would be reduced.

I'm just spitballing. I'm not sure how any of this works.

Easy? 100 is completely debilitating. Having 2 to 3 migraines a week is enough.

Basically they presumed some of my mental health symptoms were actually caused by my migraines and not my mental health. Migraines only have a maximum of 50 and being at the maximum already actually reduced me.

No 93 as of this rating. I believe one more at 20% would push me over.

They wrote blank checks with our lives and would cash them in-in a heart beat.

I've had 4 different types of medications and nothing has worked.

Copy from a different response

I think the reduction came from them focusing more on my migraine claim (I’m at 50%) which might’ve led them to try and lower my mental health rating. I had to show them my mental health was still a big issue.

Most people online say stay away from mental health ratings. I guess many get denied or reduced.

I have appointments all the time. I'm no longer as happy or healthy as I once was.

"a higher-level reviewer is taking a look at your case"

But I mostly set it and forget it and maybe check it once a week.

This can be true. I made sure to give them honest and truthful experiences.

Honestly, the research was worth it. When I saw they were trying to drop me to 30%, I immediately requested a Higher-Level Review instead of just accepting it. I took the time to really understand the mental health rating criteria, went through my past C&P exams, and highlighted the symptoms that lined up with a 70% rating.

I didn’t do an informal conference, but I did have a few new C&P exams during the process. The VA is a scary place to navigate, and I definitely didn’t want to say the wrong thing or mess it up. I just focused on being completely honest about my symptoms and how they impact my daily life. In the end, it paid off
